What sunglasses do you wear while driving?
« on: May 26, 2010, 05:22:15 pm »

I'll go first:

"Verona" Serengeti Drivers from the Sport Classic line.  These have the Drivers polarizing lense.

18% transmittance when the lenses are lightened, 10% when darkened.

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

For racing I run contacts with my ray bans, for regular driving I wear prescription glasses.  A lot of the time I don't bother since I am not affected by the bright sun that much.

As you know..I'm like a vampire and only come out at night.  I'm sensitive to the sunlight.

I wear glasses made with a very high index glass which cannot have the light sensitive layer in it and as the lenses are about $500 a pair I am not going to get two pairs just to get a surface tint.

I have clip-on sunglasses  but they cause all kinds of reflections  from the extra set of glass/air interfaces.  So I just do without until they make high index plastic for (relatively) cheap lenses.

I have done and can comfortably wear hard contacts  but then I end up carrying sunglasses and reading glasses which is too much bother.

I was quoted $800 locally!

I think I'm whiter than you though...LOL.  My skin looks like "freezer chicken" in Import Queen's mom's words. LOL  I have to take 10,000IU of Vitamin D a day I see so little sun light...

Arnettes with polarising lenses.

I have a pair of prescription sunglasses from Lenscrafters. They were cheap, but they do the job. :)

The glass in my specs is 1.8 In my prescription the difference between 1.8 and 1.7 is noticeable in weight of lens unless one has these very small trendy frames and then they can't be progressive bifocal...

I have a pair of Byblos sunglasses I bought on October 3, 1996.  13.5 years later, I wear the same pair.  They look a lot like these, except the frames are a bright gold...

Why do I remember the date?  I stopped by the opticians on the way home from work, and when I got home, the phone was ringing.  It was the day my Mom told me she had cancer.

They're super comfy, though out of style.
