2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty; Day 1
« on: May 25, 2010, 09:31:16 pm »

Big power never comes cheap, whether it's in a sports car or a pickup truck, as James' tester this week proves. The 2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty is available with a new diesel engine that puts down 735 lb-ft of torque, but that's a tiny number compared to the as-tested price of $76,000.

A few weeks ago my 7 year old daughter pointed out that, not only did we need a truck, we needed an F250, not the F150 which she considered "too small".

I responded:"Girl, you have the wrong Daddy."

It seems that whatever enviro credentials I may have, they may not be passed to the next generation.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I'd rather have a Touareg with similar torque.

I think the diesel V10 Touareg puts out 310hp and 553 ft-lbs of torque (749.8Nm). Still lots.

This sucker puts out 996.5Nm. Enough to move my mother-in-law. Just.

 Awesome looking truck!!!  I am now officially jealous at your latest ride (besides being jealous of your job in general). Hope you get a chance to hook up a good size trailer and let us know how it goes.

Pricing on this thing is obscene, yet it probably can't carry a 4x8 sheet of drywall within the bed.  No wonder contractors charge so much and all are pulling trailers behind their tarted-up trucks to actually carry their gear.

It's a great truck for those who actually use it like it was meant to be.  Sadly, they're often driven by guys who are compensating for something (especially the ones with blinged out wheels) or soccer moms at the mall.  I'm looking at you Harley Davidson Edition owners.

If I had the dough (i.e enough such that opportunity cost did not matter what-so-ever) , I would go for a RAM power-wagon.   Not sure if they make it anymore...
