HeliDriver's (10-year-old) GTI
« on: April 29, 2010, 07:24:49 pm »
Woo-hoo, it's finally here!

Just in time for the miserable snowstorm, unfortunately. Good thing I had the dealer put the winter tires on for delivery - I figured they'd go straight into my garage for the summer, but looks like I'll be stuck with them for at least another week or so.

So, no great pics for now, just a couple snaps of the dirty girl in her winter boots. Doesn't matter, I'm still in love...

I'm confused by the subject..has Sircivic changed his name?

Yeah, I tried to do the strikethrough thing in the header (like this SirCivic), but it doesn't work. Maybe I'll just delete it.

And yes, I figured I'd change my name since I no longer have the Civic. I thought about coming up with a GTI-related name, but then I'd just be in the same boat someday down the road when I sell the GTI (might be a decade from now, but who knows?).

Oh, I forgot,

3 favorite things about the car so far?   :D

I must be getting old and soft:

1) Gorgeous and expensive-feeling interior
2) Eerily quiet highway ride
3) Awesome stereo and nav system

Once the car is broken in and I can take the squirmy winter rubber off, I'll probably be more enthralled by the car's performance. Right now, I'm just enjoying the luxury (and, yes, even a GTI is luxurious compared to an eleven-year-old Civic  :) ).

Great car but I could be biased.  ;D

Looks like your winter wheels are Denver's (? 17" Huff look alike)  What are you summers?

Can't remember what options you got? Can you list them again.

Again, congrats on a great car!

Yep, I'm using the stock 17" Denvers for winter. For tires, I was going to go with performance winters (Dunlop 3D), but instead decided to try the new Continental ExtremeWinterContacts. I was hoping they would be a better compromise between bare/snowy performance, but so far they're squirmier on pavement than I was hoping for.

Summer wheels are 17" O.Z. Alleggeritas with Bridgestone RE760 UHP summers. I'm definitely looking forward to getting those on.

The car is pretty much just a base 5-door GTI with the 6-speed manual and cloth interior. The only option I got was the Tech package, which is the nav system and Dynaudio stereo.

And thanks to everyone for the kind words!
