They actually gave the Cruze the benefit of the doubt!  The actual EPA Cruze number is less, at 94.6 for interior space.  But the result is still the same.  LESS interior space than the Elantra.  Nice try though..

Does the Cruze have an exterior trunk? I don't think so. Total space is the SAME by Hyundai's own measurements. -- if they can be believed. After all, we know Hyundai has tended to fudge numbers to their favor many times in the past.

Why, do you ride in the trunk??  I'm talking PASSENGER volume.  And the Cruze has less of it.   ;)

The relevant measurement is total space. Passengers tend to have cargo.

That's relevant to you.  Passenger space..my comfort..is more relevant to me.

I'm confused - he started off telling us the Elantra was sooooooo much smaller than the Cruze.  Now he's telling us they're the same - so long as you include the trunk volume?  Who's on first again?  And I guess, to be fair, the Soprano crowd doesn't draw a distinction between passenger volume and trunk volume... cuz..... y'know......

"Your" all wrong. The relevant measurement (for a car enthusiast website) is the curb weight, second only to engine output. Can anyone tell why GM decided to hide it for the Base Cruze??
IIRC from the published numbers Elantra starts at 2661 and the Cruze is around 3100. Now count HP per every 1000 lb, even with the turbo...

I'm sure we will soon hear how those numbers somehow net out to making the Elantra way smaller than the Cruze.  Wait for it.

I'm 6'-1", I adjusted the driver's seat for myself, than sat in the rear behind myself, and found I had loads of legroom still, very much like a midsized car. However I wouldn't want to be sitting three across and my head touches the roof when I sit straight up, but I did use the extra leg room to slouch down a bit and it was very comfortable.

I also sat in the back seat of the Equus... oh... my... God... I wonder if a driver comes with that car.

I just purchased a Glacier White Pearl Elantra Limited with the NAVI/Leather package. Got about $500 of the sticker and the windows tinted. Came to about $29K OTD.

Coming out of a 2007 Civic, the Elantra is light years ahead. Its does feel and look small on the outside, but its very spacious inside. Im 6'1, 220lbs and I had plenty of room. Drove nice and it seemed pretty solid too. No real complaints. Eventhough its an econo car, I love all the features and options. Its like a baby Lexus IS LOL. The wife wanted a small SUV, so we were originally looked at a Tucson, but it was $35K optioned the way we wanted. The Elantra will suite our needs perfect regardless.

Im very impressed with Hyundai. The sales and service at the two dealers I go to have been great too. I have a 2010 Genesis 2.0T too and its a great machine. No issues at all.

Congrats on the purchase.  Did they have it on the lot or does it have to be ordered in?  Every dealer's different, but I was able to negotiate $900 off sticker, got paint protection/3M/undercoating for $600 (normally $2000 ::)), and they had to order it in from Vancouver...and as it ended up I turned down a better deal at a different dealership.  And this is the first Hyundai I've purchased, too.

That`s without the taxes?  If so, that`s not cheap is it!

Throw the Cruze under the bus if you like...me thinks the Elanta`s main meal is going to consist of Civic and Corolla sales. >:D

Not a bold prediction though.  EVERYONE's main meal tries to be a Corolla or Civic since they are 1-2 in the category...

That should be with taxes. I paid about that for my Corolla XRS and a few here were having some sticker shock :)

I dont have the paperwork with me, but off the top of my head...

-Sticker was $246xx for the Limited with NAVI. Got it for $24200, so about $500 off.
-Taxes and other fees were about $5K.
-No accessories or extras (windows tinted for free)
-Everything came to under $30K.

Not a bad deal considering my Civic was $31K when I bought it and it doesnt have near the options that the Elantra has. I wanted something practical that will be decent in the snow compared to my Genesis, fuel effecient, but that still had a good amount of options.

Well...so much for the Elantra!  Had an appointment this aft to deal for a Limited, but they have just jacked financing rates on Hyundai's 'build and price' as of Feb 1 and it blows it out of the water for me.  I'd be looking at another $30/35/mo.  Confirmed what I saw on line with dealer and cancelled.  Back to the drawing board.

With a heavily redesigned Elantra freshly on the market, Hyundai appears to be driving sales in a direction that could exceed production capacity at its Montgomery, Alabama, plant

Taxes and fees of 20%? Good lord.

find this puzzling as the Elantra Ltd comes standard with solar glass, so why would have to be tinted, the GLS is tinted standard.  Only the L and GL models don't come standard with tint.
