I dont have the paperwork with me, but off the top of my head...

-Sticker was $246xx for the Limited with NAVI. Got it for $24200, so about $500 off.
-Taxes and other fees were about $5K.
-No accessories or extras (windows tinted for free)
-Everything came to under $30K.

Not a bad deal considering my Civic was $31K when I bought it and it doesnt have near the options that the Elantra has. I wanted something practical that will be decent in the snow compared to my Genesis, fuel effecient, but that still had a good amount of options.

Taxes and fees of 20%? Good lord.

You do realize that a Cruze LTZ, which starts at $24,780, and if equipped with Navi like the above Elantra comes to $28,525.  This comes BEFORE adding taxes, freight, and PDI.  I don't think I've ever come across anyone that has a bigger pair of automotive blinders as you.

With blinders, you can still hear sound reasoning.  It's more like this.

20%, not quite but close. HST is 15%, about $3400. Freight/PDI about $1500.

The Solar Control glass is for UV protection and really isn't dark at all. I got the windows tinted because I like the look.

Yep, which would be virtually the same no matter what make or model you purchase.

Btw, congrats on the purchase.......any pics?   :)

Well...so much for the Elantra!  Had an appointment this aft to deal for a Limited, but they have just jacked financing rates on Hyundai's 'build and price' as of Feb 1 and it blows it out of the water for me.  I'd be looking at another $30/35/mo.  Confirmed what I saw on line with dealer and cancelled.  Back to the drawing board.

I see that.  So the financing rate has gone from 3.35% in December, to 2.99% for January, to 3.79% for February.

I think the dealers may have slightly different rates depending on what bank they use. My rate is 3.6% with Bank of Nova Scotia.

That's hardcore  ;)
I like the new Elantra in white, much better than the Sonata.

MTD, nice stable you've got there.  That new Elantra is such a great looking car.  Congrats.

You do realize that a Cruze LTZ, which starts at $24,780, and if equipped with Navi like the above Elantra comes to $28,525.  This comes BEFORE adding taxes, freight, and PDI.

We're talking taxes and fees, not the Cruze. 20% seemed high. But I didn't realize it included destination charges.

Thanks. The Genesis is a 2.0T GT. 6speed, LSD, Brembos, etc. Great car. It could use a few more ponies for its size and weight, but I have a few modifications in mind for the summer. The V6 was a little bit more money they the wife and I could afford to spend at the time. The Elantra is our daily driver/winter/normal car. The Genesis is fun in the snow, but anything more then 12" of snow and its stuck lol. We have no kids, so two smaller cars suite our needs perfectly.

The guy stated what his purchase price was , and stated that taxes and other fees (ie. destination charges) were on top of it.  I don't see how you could read otherwise.  The extra taxes and fees on ANY other make or model would be similar.......why do you feel this is specific to Hyundai?

High horse??  LOL.  I am not on a high horse of any brand.....unlike yourself.  I comment on the positives and negatives of ALL brands.......again, unlike yourself.  I don't cheer for Asian brands, domestic brands, European brands, etc.  How about yourself?

Where did I say that? Answer: I didn't. Unless you're a mind-reader, which you clearly are not, you cannot possibly know what I was thinking. I already said what I was and was not factoring into my comment. Full stop.

Methinks you doth protest too much. You clearly have a netcop streak to you of late. And your recent posts have been excessively bellicose, argumentative, and incendiary. Go detail your chariot and cool your jets.

I'm not typically one to defend the Feline Optic one...but I gotta say that I'm not why sure his quote warrants this commentary.  I mean hey, it's an observation on buying a new car...I think it sucks too and I didn't even have to pay it.

Heck of a winter car MTD...are you going to sit in the back with heated rear seats?
