Blocking Cars That You Want Towed
« on: April 02, 2010, 12:33:22 am »
Tonight I came home to find both my parking spots being used by other cars.

Are there normally any laws against blocking the cars in so they cannot leave in their cars before the tow truck gets there?

Both cars ended up leaving shortly after I called a tow truck. Which was going to be a long wait.

Our second property is a townhouse and is therefore a "house".  It has parking spots.   ;)

I think this is a case of two wrongs definitely not making a right.  Wrong number one:  They park in your parking spots.  Wrong number two:  You block them.  Wrong number three:  They vandalize your car, or there's some type of altercation.  Legal or not, trust your spidey sense.  It's better to gamble and lose on the tow truck showing up on time than to risk a fight with the two mouth-breathers that used your parking spots.

I'm thinking now that having them ticketed would have been more effective and faster.

Just call the Authorities, and let them deal with it.

Far worse things can happen if taken upon yourself.

Who tickets cars on private property?  Who receives the fine?

The bylaw enforcement office here is open 24 hours. When I called them to tow he asked me if I wanted them ticket or towed. My neighbor also received a ticket once for parking in the wrong spot.
