Amazing value!

Does anyone have any reservations regarding the all-new GDi engines?  Will the be reliable than the "regular" engines that we are so used to?

Do GDi require extra maintenance?

Some are worried about the injectors gumming up in a few years time and that being an expensive repair. I'm honestly not sure. Hyundai, Ford and GM are all using DI engines now in different places and one would hope that they have done some extensive testing on something as fundamental to the engine and the smooth running of the car as that.

Direct injection has been around for quite sometime , but just on higher end models mostly
I came across this blurb on D.I. if this helps

One of the biggest delays in getting GDI-equipped cars to the masses has been the fine-tuning research and development needed to make them as reliable as their standard counterparts. Automotive component suppliers including Bosch, Delphi, Denso and Siemens have come up with solutions: Rugged, high-pressure fuel injectors and the sophisticated electronics to make them perform optimally in GDI engines.

Being flatbedded out of the Walmart lots already, eh? Not surprised at the locale, just the fact that they are dying on owners so soon. Maybe those engines don't like discount gas. Hmmm... ;)

Will be interesting to see if this one lives up to the fuel economy billing.  So far, with respect to the Elantra, real world tests have shown that it is not the fuel economy leader it is advertised  to be. It had turned out to be somewhat midling in that regard. Hoping for better with this car.

conwelpec , I liked the engine sound and also how quiet it was on the inside with the doors shut .

The below video --  Looks like there will be enough room for 6 footers in front !  So many car seats don't go back far enough .

Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

It's much better looking as a hatchback than a sedan. But I was impressed with the walk around video that was done... gives me a real sense of what the car is actually like. It looks like a pretty good vehicle: the fuel economy is good, the power for the class is excellent, the interior is decent enough and actually has a tiny bit of style to it and the rear seats look good.

How has the previous gen been on reliability? If it's average or above I'd be putting this car into the recommended list for people who want something small and inexpensive.

This car has so many good points they are too numerous to list .
But one thing sticks out is that though I like the hatchbacks looks I would never get it because of the weight penalty .
Right now the Accent is 70 lbs over its claimed weight .

At it's current 2463 lbs, the 1.6 must work fairly hard , that engine in the hatch will have to work harder still .

I love the Accent, but i'm concerned about DI and how much extra maintenance it requires over a regular engine.

Good review
I wish I hadn't read about that suspension quirk , no matter how minor it is , I know its there . Steering I'm not thrilled about either . Most people won't notice or care about those 2 things , still a very good car . To have passing ability on the highway speaks volumes for the engine .
