That's a lot of power for such a little economy car.

...compared to 110 hp it had before. 138 hp used to be the output of low to mid 2.0L engines of just a decade ago. With GDI I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to achieve an under 5l/100km figure, which gets us very close to hybrids.
Now, just like I finish my Hyundai posts lately, do the boost  :)

It looks good and the specs are very good. I wonder why Hyundai offered DI in the Accent and not Elantra; the DI is supposed to be more expensive.

Very nice specs. It might put the Veloster in Trouble. But what happened to the looks? The Verna looks much nicer. Has Hyundai peaked on styling and reverting to their old ways? Both the Veloster and this are somewhat disappointing.

I actually like that chiseled "face", it gives a subcompact that personality to set it apart from other offerings and I also feel it's a good thing they didn't just take the Sonata, scaled it and make a smaller soap bar. I don't mind when a model shows some family ties, like that radiator grille in case of Kia, but would rather have every model look unique and distinguishable.

I also though the Verna's styling was better but the Accent still looks decent and not like an econobox.

Those are some big a$$ rear lights on the 5-door!

Auto123 sure knows how to make a wide angle lense insult the rear of a car! If the lights were that big, they would blind the following driver!  :D

Looks like a great car, but they need to consider the competition and improve the seat fabric.

Dkaz . It has the best power to weight ratio in its segment with the first D.I. motor in its class .
It even has 4 disc brakes with a 6 speed automatic . I think they already considered the competition . Top it off , it looks much bigger than the past Accent yet only weighs 2393 lbs !

Hard pressed not to like this one . With these specs and tons more features I haven't mentioned the new ACCENT has nothing to worry about from the competition .

I agree.  Although I do see DKaz's point too.  At this price point you get a lot of 'non-car people' shopping the Accent who will not buy this car soley because they don't like the seat material.  I have heard it before....I don't get it either.

If that same seat fabric was in a VW GTI......it would be OK.   :rofl2:

One of the things I hated about the 2nd gen Yaris was the seat , not as comfortable as my cars front seat . I really noticed it too . Big difference .

I never buy 1st year models because of possible bugs . The last year of a particular gen you get the best car with the most features thrown in ,offering the best value . But I've never waited  that long to buy . I usually buy by the 3rd year of a model run . Things are pretty well sorted by then . The only maker I MIGHT buy on the 1st year is Ford . They are better at getting the bugs out before release of a new model .( Some cars are worth alot more than $ 10,000 to me . Back at you O.D.

ADDED
4 door Accent  4,370 mm
5 door Accent  4,115 mm

Does anyone know what that is in inches ? Thats 172 inches ? for the 4 dr,  long for a subcompact (excluding Cruze )

Ontario driver , I seem to remember you taking this back door approach to me before so I looked at your posts to find the last time you did it and came across this and stopped looking .

I got it CHEAP, real CHEAP that's why I got it.

Come on how much. I'm enjoying my little Echo. I laugh at the petrol station. These cars are great. I'd prefer the saloon Yaris but 2008 at bargain price you can't go wrong. You can always drive the pick up every 2nd day.
