I looked at a mint, low(ish) mileage 2004 with about 30,000 miles on it for $17K.  It was flawless.

Pretty much like this one:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-Honda-S2000-Certified-Only-22k-Miles-No-Accidents-/330452335171?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4cf07e7a43

OMG it has tan interior...hold me back!

How did you resist Rrocket?

That's the colour combo I was looking for too...Grand Prix White on Oak.  I dunno...still banging the idea around.  But sheesh...we already have 4 cars...

My only regret is that I didn't pull the trigger on one sooner. I say do it while you can :) It really is a joy.

Echo...your IS...her IS...oh...and her Accord ya?

Hmm...well...one of 'ems gotta go!  Having two ISs is kinda redundant...and both summer driven.

hey, I need a car to drive.   :P

Well the S2000 would be summer driven too, so we're not gaining anything there.  :)

The Echo might not be around too much longer...but again, will need a winter beater.

I REALLY would like an S2000 to put one of Precision's new billet turbos on.  I just missed the timing of these with my Supra.  They are amazing.  Low boost or high boost, they put out great power with great response.

Just drive the IS all winter, some snows and you're good to go

Yes, I know. We have snows for the IS300.  But since I already have the Echo (and now the Accord Coupe), there's no need to drive either Lexus in the winter.

Okay, bringing back this thread - Please don't laugh if this is a stupid question, but

Can you drive this car year 'round?  Does anybody do that?

The more I read about this car, the more I like.  Especially since it's depreciated ++, esp. in the States.  Used Miata prices still seem too high to me (in terms of the price/value ratio, if I compare it to a S2000, which basically has NO reputation among non-enthusiasts... which explains the steeper depreciation, I assume...)

(Yes, I know about the low torque, but I don't care.  I have a TSX.   ;D  )

It's warm enough and all?

Wing, would you say the S2000 is among the best handling cars you've tested?  What about tactile steering feel?

S2000 > *

Seriously there is no other car out there right now that I would consider buying for sporty driving it's still tops -- the power bump helps a lot!

It gets warm enough it's tiny inside you'll burn your hands it gets so hot.  The transmission tunnel will even heat your coffee.

Another question!  :)

Can you leave a S2000 stock if you want to do some 'driving schools'/HPDEs/lapping (no racing), or do you have to put in an after-market roll bar (and possibly permanently modify the car)?

Agree 100%.  I've always poo-poed the S2000 a bit due to a lack of TQ.  But as a handling car, it has few, if any peers.  On the track, these things flat-out handle, right out of the box.  The transmission is the best there is.  Honda didn't really update these alot over the years because they were simply that good right out of the box.

I think for NASA ands SCCA it's mandatory now..for HPDEs even.

There are some bolt-ins/weld-ins that work well for the S2000. You can still use the top for some (if you want it as a street car) and about $500.  They can be removed with no damage to the car.

Hard Dog makes plenty of roll bars for Miatas, S2000s, etc...

I'm sure our man WIng will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong...though I believe his does not allow the use of the top.

Rollbars only if it is a club event if it's "just some guy" organizing they will let you run without.  Harddog sells a rollbar for about a grand when all is done.

Because when I search for S2000s, I find many that say, "Never written driven".  Same with Miatas.  So it makes me wonder.
