Certainly the paint....but the roof was made for racing.

Is that the same as a Genesis Coupe screaming "I couldn't afford a G35??"   :stick:

I'm not uppity.....You just have no idea what the definition of rice is.   "Rice"  mods are usually non functional, non performance mods.  A hard top for racing is anything but rice IMO.

IIRC, when Spoon tested the hardtop, it was 5-7mph faster up top than the regular ragtop.....

Can't wait to change the oil on Friday and start her up for the first time this season to hear her purrr.

Hey James, is it possible I saw you yesterday on your way to the Champlain bridge (or Aylmer)? I crossed a yellow S2000 with a wing and a guy who kinda looked like you at the corner of Taché/St-Raymond around 4pm.

No unless someone stole my car that looks like me.  Perhaps I should double check the garage!

My car is not road going.

The best sports car.... that nobody bought. Gotta admire Honda for keeping it in production as long as they did. They must have been losing their shirts at 10,000 units per year, world wide.

TopGun your comments confuse me because you have an RX8.

I owned and RX8 and then I drove an S2000 and was blown away!  Still love the RX8 but the driver is more sheltered and it just doesn't feel as connected as the S2000 does.
.....

Dunno...maybe it was the exhaust note...or lack thereof from the S2000...just seemed so quiet.

I think it was a cost thing for me too...the S2000 that a buddy bought slightly used was 50% more than what I paid for my new RX8...without the back seats that I needed.

Perhaps my expectations were too high.

Well the thing is the gen coupe IS the po-man's version of the G35...

FWIW the Z4M was discounted heavily here in the States when they were still in production (think 10k off MSRP) so it's not like it's that much more expensive.

Agreed, I have driven both and from my perspective the RX-8 would be my first choice. The S2000 IMO is not a daily driver and can only be a summer or track toy. The RX-8 can be a 12 month car and not all of us have the resources to have two seasonal cars.

Yea..I wouldn't argue with most of what you say.  S2000 is rather quiet and doesn't sound unique when compared to the mill of the RX8.  The price too is also crazy for an S2000 in Canada...though they can be had so cheaply in the US.

But S2000 is the sportier ride because of the lack of rear seats.  So yea, if you needed rear seats, I could see how the Honda might not impress...LOL

... Those cars fit you?  :o ;D :D

Don't see how 2 used cars being driven seasonal 1 at a time is that much more than a brand car driven year round.

The S2000 is a fantastic, fun car. Once you accept its dual personality, you get what it's all about. When just putting around town under 5K rpm it has decent response but it's nothing special. That makes it quite relaxing and easy to 'go with the flow'.

Then going over 6K rpm into the VTEC zone you enter another world - the realm of the race car. The S2000 snarls, then screams to 9000 if you have the balls to go to redline. It's a beautiful thing. 85% of the time I short shift it because there no reason to go mental. The other 15% is pure gorgeous roadgoing fury.

Greatest car I have ever owned, and my first car was a '73 Datsun 240Z. An M3 or Boxster might be as much fun but to get a car that is MORE fun than an S2000 I'm sure you'd have to spend over $100K.

Classic is damn right.

Its about time everyone realized it too. Throughout its life it had to endure a lot of forum bashing about no torque and newer competitors.  10 years later and there's still nothing like it. It is a beautiful machine in all respects and clear in its focus.

On a personal note, I hate how popular it is with the young crowd and the thieving crowd and the mod-it-ugly crowd.
