Agree that Ford has a winner here but I've got to comment on the price differences between US and Canada.

All I've got to say is BS! It has nothing to do with supply and demand. In fact, many cars are actually built here in Canada. It's all smoke and mirrors and the automakers are pulling the wool over your eyes. They charge what they charge because the market bears it. It's that simple. If Canadians, en masse, started to cross the border to buy their cars you watch how quick prices would drop in this country. There is absolutely no reason why our prices aren't the same or, at most, a bit higher than the US except that it pads the manufacturer's wallets. Look at the Corolla for example, it's only a couple of grand higher than it's US counterpart. It's not worth it to cross the border for a Corolla IMO.
If you think that HIDs and leather and moonroof are worth even a 10 grand difference than I've got a bridge to sell you. The only reason many more don't cross-border shop is because of financing, warranty and they are simply ignorant to what's involved and don't want to inform themselves. In the case of the 'Stang you don't have to worry about warranty as someone has already mentioned. There are plenty of Web sites that explain in excrutiating detail what's involved in importing a car to Canada and whether it's worth it for your particular model (Corvette is a huge "DO IT"). They even have detailed info on whether your warranty will be honored. For instance, I know with Subaru that you have warranty but it's covered by Subaru in the US. You have to pay out of pocket and then send the bill to the States to be remunerated. Yeah, I know, that will be too big a hassle for some. It would be for me. It seems to me, though, that the biggest factor is financing and there you have to do some research as well. Is it worth it to get a loan from the bank for your US purchase? Will the bank agree?
Maybe if more of us decide we're not going to put up with the unwarranted price differences the auto industry will back down. If Joe Sixpack can get photo radar (Read: huge cash cow) removed in BC and Ontario it's definitely possible.
A real world example:
When the Canadian Dollar hit par for the first time a few years ago I know a guy who bought a Dodge pickup truck and he got it for close to what it cost in the States after pointing out the on-par dollar. If what the car company's apologists say is true they never could have sold him that truck for the US price. He ordered it, by the way, it wasn't one that they had sitting on the lot for months and were desperate to get rid of.
All I know is that in the end, the little guy gets it...in the end.
