That car is EASILY beatable, the driver well that's another story.  I've done it twice maybe.  His co-driver I typically beat.

Both doesn't matter, auto-x is 90% driver.

I've actually drive the MR2 a few times.

First time I drove it I was 2 seconds faster than in my own car.  2nd time I wasn't as fast.  Depends on the course.

Sure is a difficult car to master.

Against the rules the wheelbase is too short for the height.

No idea I drove the Mitus iCar though it is longer, it was fun but pretty slow.

The 3rd gen which we never got here in Canada was probably the worst of the bunch.  Funny styling, NA 140HP corolla engine.  Convertible only.  It's handling was good, but who cares when the rest of it is sorely lacking.

Well Edmunds picked it over the Miata in a face off...quite an accomplishment, since the Miata is such a good sports car.  And the aftermarket support is great too!  Turbo kits (250 HP on 12 psi!) and body kits, wheels, etc..

I LOVE the APR Widebody MR2 Spyder

Well that's edmunds opinion.  Car and Driver or Motor Trend have always loved the Miata.  Personally I'd rather have a front engine layout over midengine because it's a lot easier to service and you usually have real storage space.  Handling is normally more predictable.  The aftermarket doesn't count.  You could pretty much take any car and make it better through the aftermarket.  That's like saying the Camry is a cool car because you could go and get bodykits and turbos and different rims.

And you were complaining that the interior of the new Mini looked cartoonish??????????? :shake:

Yeah, after 3 runs in my car Bill got within 0.1 seconds of my time on the same course.  If he gets some real power in the MR1.5 it'll be very hard to beat, the engine in it is dying.

Another friend in my club has a very nice MR2SC, and one guy has a JDM 2nd gen.

I like the 3rd gen models... Especially with the F1 TRUE sequential gearbox... Not a shiftable automatic transmission, but a real SMT...
