Is the 993 up for sale now  :stick:  :rofl2:

Never! If one of these two have to go, it'll be the 991 series. It has cup holders. lol

I had to ask  :P

Wow, congrats on the GTS. That's a very nice buy.

I don't get why people buy cars and simply don't drive them.

Amazing buy!! Please do keep us updated with the ownership experience. Congrats, and here's to logging more than  60km/year  on the thing  :P

Also, you may need to reconsider that username  ;)

I don't get why people buy cars and simply don't drive them.

Happens very frequently in the Porsche community.

When I went to one of the Porsche events at Indy, one guy proudly told me this is one of  TWO times yearly he took his car out...

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Even with brand new cars?

That video is utterly brilliant, and I am not even a fan of 911s. So, so so so so so so right...

Well newer cars are almost always better, but there is something special about cars of the past, be it an E-Type, a 1973 911 RS...you get the idea. I like that the older cars feel raw.

Great car, congratulations!
Awesome!! Fantastic car.
Awesome!!!

Thanks. Another dream come true, especially on my wallet. Priorities I guess.

Believe it or not, although I have a Porsche 993 and four BMW motorcycles, I did stop in at a GM dealer and had a look at a new Corvette. A great performer and the price was certainly right, but for me its the overall package and there were things in the newer 911 I liked better just sitting in it. And no, its not a status thing or I'd be cruising downtown instead of the empty back roads.

I don't get why people buy cars and simply don't drive them.

I heard from the dealer that the original owner has a slew of cars. The GTS is being replaced with a GT3 Touring.

I am up to 3082 kms so far. I wanted to get the 3000 km break-in miles behind me. I am sure Porsche is covering their butt and that is conservative. No harm done I am sure.

As for driving it, I will, just as I do my motorcycles. But I refer a sunny warm day and these are toys.

Amazing buy!! Please do keep us updated with the ownership experience. Congrats, and here's to logging more than  60km/year  on the thing  :P

Also, you may need to reconsider that username  ;)

Ownership experience? Well I did my first oil and oil filter change prior to winter layaway. Christ, there is zero room to work. My 993 is a treat in comparison...I can actually see an engine in the 993.

I'll be loyal to my 993 as for the username.

When I went to one of the Porsche events at Indy, one guy proudly told me this is one of TWO times yearly he took his car out...

That is ultra rare. Quite a few have well over 100K, 200K (my friend's 993) and some have 500K kilometers on them.

When looking at eye candy, I head over to Trader and look at ultra low mileage Ferraris, or anything Italian.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!
A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!
A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

There's two types...the never drive guys (never drive in the rain, only on perfect pavement, etc) and the guys like me...drive everywhere as much as possible.

I saw tons of both a Porsche events.

Porsche owners were some of the absolute worst car people I've ever met...and some of the best.

I have to agree, but that applies to any brand.

I have no use for those that buy one for the crest on the hood; the status element. Its just the way I feel about it. I am into the history of the make having read many books. I visited both Porsche museums as well as the old building where the first one was built; the latter was sort of a holy grail maybe. And I had a chance to visit Porsche's summer residence in Zell am See, Austria and the chapel on the grounds where they are laid to rest.

I know someone who lives in Monterey, CA and she calls it the Concours d'Arrogance (instead of d'Elegance) at the Porsche meet. I had to laugh. How true in some cases.

A new addition to the stables that I picked up this past August. Bad timing in many ways but I just could not turn it down.

Congrats, love these especially that big fat ass.

I disagree.

Porsche owners are some of the absolute worst people.  Ever.

Didn't find this in any other car club I've been a part of.

Also..I have no idea how many Porsche events you've been to.  I've been to a lot.

I spent quite a few years in both the MBCA and PCA, and wow, you couldn't imagine  how different the groups were.  Oddly, neither group was super keen on driving events (the MBCA group especially liked to bench race at the pub) but the difference in attitude was basically 180 degrees.  There were almost no MBCA members that were obsessive about OE configuration, "purity" and all that crap.  A significant number of the PCA members were like that, OMG.

But, then you had track days.  The track day guys were all over the map.  Some brought out brand new cars and drove them like they were $1K beaters.  Some crawled around the track trying hard not to bash up the car they'd financed out to wazoo.  But, those days saw mostly owners that were pretty keen on driving and enjoying their cars.  The guys that obsessed over your valve stem caps (yes, that's NOT an exaggeration) didn't come out.  Thank gawd.  Or if they did, they were pretty quiet.

But, holy hell, go to show/shine and concours and other stuff, and prepare to be judged even if you weren't entered in anything.  I avoided their wrath because my mods were all invisible.
