I agree that the new SRX is probably the right size. However, I think the 3.6L V6 or the 2.8T would probably be better engine choices for this vehicle. See the first drive of the 2.8T from Edmunds:

However, If I was in the market for a Caddy in this price range I think it would be the CTS Sport Wagon.

I like the new SRX size as well. If they put the engine behind the front axle, postioned North-South. Drop the ride height 6", add a close ratio 6 speed manual, add some bigger brakes, .....
