Let me tell you about the car business Bob. It ain't about "shift levers falling readily to hand," or "the joy of the country road," or even "g-forces." For anyone who works in the car business, first and foremost it is about making money. Nobody does nothin' for free from the guy who mined the ore, to the guy who drove the car off the transporter to the tech who did the PDI.

And at the dealership level, any employee who does not make money gets canned. I never got canned.

I have to say I've noticed things are much better in general around here latlely. With the recent bankruptcies I thought things would get really bad.

That made me laugh, because...

Back when I was young, my brother and I thought that the guys who bought their Dodge L'il Red Trucks and the like, and dressed them up like tractor trailers, with vertical stacks etc were nuts.

I came up with the idea of taking a pickup and dressing it up like a lobster boat, and we had a great time describing how you could stand up in the bed to drive it, the wheel would be on the back of the cab, and you'd hang old tires off the side...instead of parallel parking, you'd gently (or not so gently) bang into the car beside you, and jump on the roof of it,  and tie your truck to it.
