...so can we all stop complaining that the North American model (which has been very well-received) isn't the same as the European model?

Perfect.

Entertaining review as usual, but it had very little on the car itself.

Very very little. That article is like a chapter of his unpublished life story.

True, but when the main complaint is that the car is dreadfully dull and bland, that's understandable.

Mind you, I'm fully aware that Clarkson is an entertainer first and a journalist second, but I still thought it was an interesting review.

It would not surprise me if it didn't sell well here if they brought it in.

862 words and nothing about the car?  Seriously he wrote 50 words about the car if that.

This is the same reviewer who believes the Fiesta's viability as a landing craft is an important consideration.

Not a very insightful or informative review, to say the least.  And very far from any definitive statement on the relative merits of the Euro and North American versions of this car.

An entertaining read?  Yep, it's that.

Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

I don't think its  JC's job to comment on the US version of the car.  Unless he's made a trip over he may never see one.

No, but Mitlov suggested that this review should put to rest forum complaints that we in N/A didn't get the Euro version of the Mzda 6.  IMHO, it does no such thing.  Indeed, it's barely a "review" at all.  It says little about the Euro version of the car at all and provides no basis for concluding that we should "stop complaining" about not having that version here.

From the article:

Quote
Strangely, however, while it seemed to have absolutely no point at the time, it has come in very handy this week. Because writing 1,000 words on the inside of a table tennis ball means I am well placed to write 1,000 words on the Mazda6 Sport.

In fact, I’ve written 862 and I haven’t even started yet.

That has to be one if not the worst articles about any car I have ever read! How does this guy get published? Oh ya, people will read anything from "celebrities". This article is nothing but rubbish.

To the OP, this has nothing to do with the NA vs Euro models...not even close.

Clarkson is comedy first, reviews second.  If you take his writing or show seriously, then you're only fooling yourself...

There is actually a Clarkson for Prime Minister movement in the UK.   He can be funny. He writes non car related articles for the Times as well

Pretty typical I think Wing, the Mini Clubman review in the Saturday's Wheels was the same.

Here are the words specific to driving the Mini:

The Clubman is easily as fun-to-drive as the slightly shorter Mini Cooper original, with the only driving difference being that the longer wheelbase delivers a more relaxed ride over lousy pavement.

I could save a lot of cash by just surfing the net and reading the press releases.

Well,I like him. In fact,I followed Mitlov's link about 1/2 an hour ago and have been reading his old reviews ever since. Who knew Ford built a Focus convertible (and more than that.... it's better than an Eos  ;D )
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

You know that if he doesn't like a car, he would trash it. He did not provide any substantial reason for not liking the car. Do I find this car dull and bland? Not at all.

The entire article was the joke (i.e., 'can't be bothered').  I chuckled a few times.
