2010 v6 Camaro = 18 city and 29 hwy (US)

2010 Chevy Camaro

V8 (SS): 16 MPG City, 24 MPG Hwy

V6: 18 MPG City, 29 MPG Hwy

29mpg from a 304 hp v6! That 29 is, according to chevrolet.com, done with the 6speed auto......

compared to the competition it is leaps ahead:
2009 Dodge Challenger
V8 (SRT8): 13 MPG City, 18 MPG Hwy
V6: 17 MPG City, 25 MPG Hwy

2010 Ford Mustang
V8 (GT): 16 MPG City, 24 MPG Hwy
V6: 18 MPG City, 26 MPG Hwy
blah blah blah Toyota blah blah blah I feel your pain; you've got a GM, it's worth squat and you owe on it.

Dude, if the displacment is EXACT, it's not "all new".  The intake is different, the VVT is now on both sets of valves  In the automotive world "all new" often means somewhat different

Wow!
Matches the gas mileage of the 4 cylinder auto Genesis coupe on the highway. 2 Mpg worse than the Hyundai in the City.

Very impressive!
Thanks for the info.

On the same page it lists the V6 manual at 155 mph top speed. Again, impressive.
If I noticed correctly, they limited the auto to 118.
I guess they figured that people who drive automatics are not performance oriented drivers! :D

A thread about fuel economy and a Camaro is equivalent to having one about a Yaris and 0-60 times.

We can expect a new thread when the available colours are announced.

Erik will say "Wow!  Those colours are MUCH nicer than the boring colours for the Genesis Coupe!"

Wait for it.

That colour is not as nice as the equivalent colour in the (insert japanese or korean car name here).
And the Camaro has a crap interior.

Those numbers deserve their own thread - here are afew more 'cars' and their epa FE to shed light on how good the v6 Camaro is:

2009 Toyota Camry  v6 auto
City 19
Combined  23
Hwy  28

2009 Honda Accord  v6 auto
City  19
Combined  22
Hwy  29

2009 Chevrolet Malibu  v6 auto
City  17
Combined  20
Hwy  26

If they can get that level of FE from the Camaro then the next revision of the Malibu with less power (and hopefully less weight) will be pretty spectacular.

Well you're half right - and half 'aint bad.  I have no criticism to offer in respect of the Camaro paint quality or colour choices.

Since I'm a Canadian and living in Canada, and not some backwards non-metric nutjob, I have no idea of what those numbers mean.  But, I'll play.  You're comparing the V6 Camry to the Camaro to illustrate the incredible fuel economy of the Camaro?  The Camry has ~270hp if memory serves and is a very large car.  It's a miracle that the Camaro can achieve the same?  No.

Now, if the Camaro posted 1.8L Corolla numbers, then I'd fall over.

Yikes how can the Malibu get such terrible fuel economy..worse than everything including a Camaro.

Its certainly nice if a Camaro can get good fuel economy. Nothing bad about that. People who buy Camaros probably don't rate it very highly.

But people buying mid sized sedans probaly pay more attention to it. If Chev wants to compete i n the mid sized segment they better put some of that Camaro technology into the Malibu.

Of course it waits to be seen if anyone can actually get 29 MPG from either of these 2 vehicles.

You live in Canada? NICE! How is the igloo? I guess I really should have posted a comparison between the EPA measurments and a 6 dog sled-dog team to make it even easier to understand.

If there were Canadian numbers they would be posted..... but is it all that much of stretch to understand and compare vehicles using the EPA system? same testing procedures - so it is as apples to apples as can be had.

Not a miracle - but this is a rear drive, 304 hp car that sips regular gas to the tune of less powerful front drive sedans.

When was the last time you saw a vehicle like that? never, right.

It would seem, based on the test drive numbers here for the Matrix 2.4, that the Camaro may just match that FE - is that good enough?

My complaint would be about the use of US gallons in any numbers quoted in Canada.   Imp Gallons yes. Litres yes but not those dented can US gallons.

Since when were they the same procedures?  Doesn't Transport Canada have its own test for our window stickers?

I remember reading that the EPA test was closer to real-world numbers.

Isn't that in imperial gallons?  I remember a commercial for the Focus that claimed something like 50 MPG highway.

This  is why he should have converted to our numbers ,too much confusion. He posted not too long ago about the cobalt XFE and how much better it was on fuel than the corolla and civic and used the U.S. numbers.
