2010 Buick LaCrosse (Allure)

Don't like the strips over the tail lights, but better than the current model. Looks more like the Buicks GM offers in the Chinese Market.

Not bad at all. A little less chrome and fake vents would've been fine by me, but I know they are part of the Buick culture.

Nice to see GM paying attention to the small design details which make big appearance differences.
Both Ford N.A. and GM have to work on those ugly airvents they are using in these new models.

Agreed. The solution is to remove them all together.

I believe they were actually called Portholes instead of vents when Buick started useing them in the late 40's and early 50's. I like the look of them myself and the Red is sharp I feel as well.  :)

Yea...The portholes were big in the 50's.  Only the top-of-the-line Roadmaster had four portholes.  No other car had four.  Lesser models had 3 portholes.....
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I see a lot of 5 series in this car...and in fact, I think it looks much more solid looking.

They were originally called "Ventiports", not portholes, as Honda Owner has already stated.

If you want a link to prove it, Google it up and check Wikipedia. Never mind - here it is:

Portholes and Ventiports

Buick Special or Super Sedan, 1951.A traditional Buick styling cue dating to 1949 is a series of three or four portholes or vents on the front fender behind the front wheels. The source of this design feature was a custom car (one not made by Buick, but personal car of stylist Ned Nickles), which in addition had a flashing light within each hole, each synchronized with a specific spark plug simulating the flames from the exhaust stack of a fighter airplane. Combined with the bombsight mascot (introduced in the 1940s), the ventiports put the driver at the controls of an imaginary fighter airplane. The flashing light feature was not used by Buick in production, but the portholes remained as nonfunctional ornamentation.

These were originally called "Ventiports" as they did allow air flow into the engine bay (later just "portholes"). Ventiports have appeared sporadically on several models since.

Lower cost models were equipped with three portholes, while higher cost models came with four. Often, people would denote their cars as "Four-Holers" or "Three-Holers" to assert the car's class. When the number of portholes was standardized across the entire model line, buyers of the higher cost models complained bitterly that they felt shortchanged. In 2003 they were re-introduced on the Buick Park Avenue. After the Park Avenue was discontinued, Buick salvaged the portholes to appear on the new Lucerne. In a break with tradition, the Lucerne's portholes refer directly to engine configuration: V6 models have three on each side, while V8s have four on each side

Whatever them little holes are called, I likes 'em. They're better positioned on the current Lucerne though.

But then, I have a soft spot for Buicks. I rented an Allure a few years ago and it was a nice ride.
Great interior. Appealed to my inner Grandpa.

You guys are right about the chrome though. They need to dial that back.

Gee did you miss the word Portholes mentioned in your own article. Its obvious you did to continue on questioning me as usual. Thats what they were called in my area back then and Ovr You are not the only one of your age on here who looks around at what ages of people drive certain models at all and in my area here Many young folks drive this brand in the last few years so are you still speaking for all of Canada or just your own area? What you see alone does not constitute the final word on what folks drive in all places across Canada at all.  ::)

How about the words of Buick's Marketing director does that consititute the final word?

Its not statistaclly possible that MANY young people drive Buicks. Unless there is some other type of math we don't know about.
