Here's another article: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/26/hyundai-genesis-coupe-goes-on-sale-early-we-have-a-few-first-im/

Did I miss any news about pricing?

I'm really excited about the Coupe's arrival.  Good to see it's living up to expectations.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but if I had to buy a car right now, this would be way way way up there on the list.

If I wanted a RWD Coupe it would be at the top of my list.

The faster one  :)  My problem is I have a quick AWD car and once you have driven one you will never go back.

There were two things I REALLY liked this article, the first being that it compared the Genesis to the car I'd be cross shopping it with (if I was shopping for a $30,000 sport coupe) - the BMW 128i.

The second thing was that it mentioned the Genesis that I'm becoming a lot more interested in - the 2.0T. This paragraph really stood out to me:

"Come late March, you'll also be able to get the 2.0T Track, which combines all of the above [the track pack items from the V6 version] with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, or the Genesis R-Spec coupe ($24,500), which is a 2.0T Track, less trivialities like a sunroof, spoiler, foglights, Bluetooth, cruise control, trip computer and metallic interior trim."

Genesis R-Spec coupe? Me likey  8)

The only thing I really didn't like was the performance numbers. With 300hp I expected a 0-60mph time that would be competitive with the Cobalt SS, not a 6.4 sec run that puts it more in competition with the Camry V6.

Seeing as the V6 puts up some mild performance numbers it makes me even more convinced that the 2.0T will be the one to buy...

Time will tell!

Sounds like 90% of the car for 66% of the cash (at least in the US, not sure up here).....deal.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

Perception is reality only in people's mind.

In this case, your perception is wrong. :)

I think Hyundai would be happy that edmunds did NOT put their Genesis up against the BMW...the comment above indicates the reason why.  If I were Hyundai, I might create ads comparing my product against BMW/Mercedes...but I would solidly be positioning it against Lexus/Infinity/Acura as it's a much easier leap for a Lexus/Infinity/Acura customer.

How now brown cow comes to mind...these Japanese companies are having the same game played on them that they played on the American & Euro cars.

Let's see how they react.

Hmm.. I wonder how the Hyundai stacks up against the G37..  ???

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=142826?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.*

;D

So a G37 drives resolutely better than the Genesis.  Makes me want to try a G37.  ;D

The G37 drives better than a Genesis is price is not an issue for you.  But it certainly doesn't drive 50% better than the Genesis if price is an issue for you.

Hyundai just did to Infiniti what Infiniti's spent the past few years doing to BMW.

Does handling always equal money though?

Power, yes.  Luxury, yes.

But isn't handling and feel more about making the right decisions rather than throwing in expensive components?

I sat in one (3.8L) today at the dealer's. The seats felt very good and properly sporty, but the dashboard quality is below the Big G /sedan/. The trunk is not too deep and there is very little leg room at the rear seats. I'm afraid it wouldnt make for a practical daily ride for me, although it would me much more fun than the Sonata.

P.S. I discovered Hyundai parts are very affordable, even at retail price level. To get air+cabin filter cost me just over 40 bucks, all in.  :D

I'll try to drive one on Saturday. All I need to do is find a dealer close by.

Will post impressions if I get to take one for a spin.

Driving past Burlington Hyundai today, I noticed they had a grey 2.0 out front.  Good looking car, but I'm not fussy on the grey.  I wish I had time to go in and have a look around... then again, I might've liked it too much and done something silly.  :)
