What "gadgets" around the house would you miss?
« on: January 04, 2009, 07:42:27 pm »
Yesterday, we had a brief scare that our Playstation 3 might need repair.  We had a power outtage and the PS3 screen was all screwed up afterwards.  We thought something might be fried.  Luckily, we did a system re-set and all is well.  We would have beem bummed out if it needed repair.  We use it mostly for DVDs.  Gaming is fun though!  As is everything else the PS3 does.

Anyways....what gadgets would you miss around the house if they died?? (internet access is a given!)

I would miss:

--Playstation 3
--Tassimo coffee machine
--Sauna
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

-television
-soldering iron (out of solder wire so already going through withdrawal)
-laptops
-toaster oven (hate microwaves)
-alkaline battery charger (no self-discharge worries)
-electric shaver

Should use a UPS for the audio/video/PC equipment, cheap insurance.

I would miss my coffee machine the most, use it every morning.

I would miss electricity.  It powers all the important things, like my coffeemaker, the stove, the fridge, my hair dryer, my computer and my TV and DVD players.

However, I would DIE if my TV and computer went down.

To be with a frig and stove is a big pain in the ass
We had both go out on us and had to wait for new parts to come in
Without a stove and if it shitty weather out ( hated frying a egg in the rain ), it is  hard to do without a stove
Also a pain going to the basement frig for everything( luck we did get rid of the beer frig)

No electric no problem get one of these
I think all the neighours should be paying me a monthly fee, power has been out in the 2 1/2 years we have had it

Yea, we use a UPS.  Good tip though!!

Yea..I've become rather fond of my Tassimo.  Being able to make Latte, Espresso or a cap in 60 seconds is pretty damn cool...

My Coffee maker with the timer on it and Computor but I wouldn't be without power very long as I have a 4000 AMP Generac brand generator  wired in to the proper power box in my electrical room. These convertor panels are very expensive and for mine it was slightly over $800 installed beside my normal 100 Amp Switch panel which was only $225.00. My entire kitchen is wired to it as well as my furnace also. Heaven forbid but we will survive in a long power outage and not miss very much of our applliances at all.   :)

My home theater, pvr, xbox360/ps3 mostly. We watch a lot of movies when we are home. The funny thing all our vacations are spent camping and I never miss the HT....that is until I get home and I have reached for the remote even before unpacking anything.

If the electricity goes out, we do enough camping so I have all the supplies to get by for quite a while.

Aside from the essentials (electricity, fridge, stove, furnace, etc) I would miss...

1. Laptop/internet access.
2. IPOD

And that's about it.

Obviously electricity, furnace, water heater are more than gadgets.
So
TV with PVR and cable box
Coffee machines ( my drip machine, mrs tpl's espresso machine)
computers and their infrastructure ( wifi, 'net, printers and so on)
ceiling fans
Anti-scald valves on the shower.
Electric tire pump.

Add the compressor I have in the garage.  Very useful!
