I find Fits way overpriced, great little car no doubt but....

Too bad a certain now-banned member is no longer with us. He would explain to us all how the Fit is a bargain at $25K and that anyone who does not think so is obviously a fat, stupid, uneducated, smoker who only drives GM cars...  ;)

Honda Owner.  Wing said so in another thread (forget which one off hand)...  kept dereailing threads and turning them into GM vs. the World, I guess.

*shrug*

The concenus seems to be favouring the idea that people would pay big money for a small car, but this particular one doesn't offer good value.  I think it's a start, though...  the salesman said they've sold some, so I think that means that the perception that "small cars = cheap cars" is fading (mind, this is a statistically insignificant sample, but still...).

I'd love to see the Fit offered in an Si trim, with Nav, HIDS, and a bigger motor/sport suspension.  That would be worth $25k, imo.

Import Queen and I talk about this often.  But as a small Lexus.  Maybe something Matrix sized with a hybrid package.  Or not.  But the idea of getting 40+ MPG while enjoying a 15 speaker Levinson stereo while being coddled by great Lexus leather seats and the serene Lexus driving experience.  Quality materials throughout.  I could see people wanting this.  I would.  Not sure at what price point I would deem it "too much" though....

I agree with this too. I think it's a much easier sell in Canada, especially Quebec, than in the US though.

Well we'll see at the Detroit Autoshow.  Supposedly Lexus is showing off an entry level hybrid car possibly based on the new Prius platform..

What else is new?  I think the entire Honda Line is over priced compared to competion.  I find this strange because acura which is premium honda brand there prices are much better than competion.

acura tsx priced better than bmw 3
acura tl priced better than mer, inf and bmw
acura rdx priced better than infiniti ex and bmw x3
acura mdx priced better than bmw 5 and mercedes and x35

Sad honda is not doing the same.

Hate to tell you this, but Acura is not consider as a premium lexury brand by most buyers, as in BMW/MB/Lexus, hence the lower pricing.

Yeah.  If anything, Acura resembles Volkswagen.  Good reputation, good cars, but not a luxury marque by any means.  They are certainly not perceived in the same way as Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, or Audi.

Not for me.

Our dealer had a fairly tricked out Fit on the showroom floor - body kit and body colour-matched 17" alloys (slate grey).  I thought it looked pretty cool.  Don't remember what the price was, but it wasn't $5k.

When my wife bought hers they threw in a set of fitted all-weather floor mats, and the only options she got were a tint (you need this - there is almost zero tint in the factory windows and there are a LOT of wondows) and a cargo area cover (should be standard on any hatchback, IMHO).  For Christmas she got a Garmin nav.  There is absolutely nothing else she needs or wants for the car.

Bottom line - most of what they are charging $5k for is stuff I don't want - whether we were discussing a Fit, Civic or Accord, I'd likely pass on that dealer-installed package at that price.

Oh - and I have seen the carbon fiber interior kit.  Not my cuppa.  Not at all.  Wouldn't want it if it were free.

Jaeger

PS - Her Fit Sport 6MTcame to a shade over $19k before the few accessories were added.  I don't find that at all overpriced for what you are getting.  $27k Fit - I suppose you could spend that if you wanted to.  But why would you want to?

Really?

What should a Fit Sport 6MT cost, in your opinion?  My wife's was just over $19k.

6MT   6 MT  must be a typo      No such animal in NA . Even the 2009 is still a 5MT  ( It should be a 6MT but I guess that they did the old cost benefit thing at the factory)

Jaeger. Our 2007 Fit LX 5MT has the same as yours   the real floor mats, luggage cover and we also have a trunk mat.  Ours was cheaper of course.

I disagree.  I think they represent fantastic value.  The LX trim, which has everything most people could need or want in a car, lists at just over $17 000.  Given the interior space, the amazing powerplant, and those really nifty rear seats, I'd say it's a steal.
