A corded mower sounds like the biggest PITA to me unless your lawn is postage stamp sized.

They have their applications.  I used one for 3 years when I lived in the old city of Toronto.  Thin lots no obstacles.

Agreed, what is the reasoning for wanting corded instead of cordless or ICE?

Quiet? Not wanting to deal with gas/oil, small property, etc

Those are the reasons that pop into my head...

That is basically what it is. I have a 30m extension cord which is long enough to handle my unobstructed lawn. Over the years I have "refined" my mowering pattern to minimize any cord handling.

I expect my next one to be a cordless robotic lawnmower but I have to rework my yard ground to become a viable option.

Our 23yr washer has been acting up for a bit during the spin cycle. Had to give it a bit of a helping hand to get it spinning properly. Thought maybe it was the coupler from the motor to the transmission, but since it would still spin, thought it was more the clutch. Anyways took it all apart yesterday morning, coupler looked okay, clutch seemed like it could be slipping. Ordered a clutch kit off Amazon that included the clutch & coupler. Arrived today & put it all back together. Seems like it worked, as we did a small test load this evening.

Well done, looks like it was a pretty extensive repair. Clutch/Coupler is usually the most common failure point, so you'll probably be good for awhile now with it.

Holy :censor:, dug deep on that one. Nice work!  Probably satisfying as all hell also.

Yeah that's quite the job right there and good job fixing it yourself and not just doing what a lot of society does and just replace rather than repair.  I've had to repair our dryer a couple of times this past year but no where near as intense job as what you did, I just changed the belt, bearings and tensioner, I've done it about 4 times just to get it right and now I can do the job in about 10 minutes start to finish.  I just refuse to buy a new dryer until this one hits at least 15 years old, I think it just crossed the 10 year mark.

Damn, that looks like a pain. I have to think that most people would have just replaced it. Nice work.

Were you able to find a YouTube video to guide you along?

The biggest washer related thing I've tackled is replacing the seal on our front loader.

That takes me back to the farm, keep tearing things apart until you get to the problem. Good job on getting it back together and working, and great you can still get parts

Thanks guys, it was actually easier to complete than it looks. It probably took me about an hour to take it all apart right down to removing the transmission. There are tons of YouTube videos to guide you, so once I got going it was quite easy. And then with the kit on Amazon costing $30 all in, I figured it was worth it at that price. Putting it back together took about 40mins, hardest part was lining up the outer shell back onto the rest of the machine, messed up the first time, so I had to redo that part.

Put it to a real test earlier this morning with a full load of laundry (we've been doing smaller loads with less water because it wouldn't spin properly) and it worked like new!! Now we can do fewer larger loads like we were able to in the past.

So for the roughly 2hrs it took me & the $30, it was well worth it. I really am not a fan of the new appliances that seem to be an issue for everyone these days. This thing is old school with mechanical dials still, so simple to repair and it looks like parts availability is still quite robust... maybe I'll get another 23yrs out of it   :rofl2:

Nice man! Love a good DIY

We bought our Kenmore washer and dryer from Sears when we bought our place in 09. Both front loading and so far no issues yet. Knock on wood...

Cordless would surely be easier than dealing with a long a** cord though no? Speaking from experience as I currently use a corded string trimmer...

Yeah, we got the stepdaughter a small Ryobi cordless mower that uses the standard Ryobi 18v battery. Tiny 13" mower but cuts just fine and the battery came in handy to power tools with

While the weather was warm I patched some holes in our garage floor. The rebar was rusting at the garage door and popped out some chunks of concrete, a PITA at snow shoveling time. Dug out all the loose chunks, painted the rebar with POR, and filled the holes with quickcrete

Had some leftover POR and put down a line in the middle of the garage, will see if it helps with parking:

^ Nice work.  Can detail the products you used?  I patched some concrete in the garage a couple years ago where the seal meets the floor, and its all popping out again.  Need to redo it.  Is the stuff you used an adhesive/glue followed by the cement mix?

Yeah, this adhesive I used:

https://www.homedepot.ca/product/quikrete-concrete-bonding-adhesive-946ml/1000149566

And this was the premixed concrete:

https://www.homedepot.ca/product/quikrete-quick-setting-cement-4-5kg/1000129717

No idea how long it will last, first time I've done it. Just about didn't get the adhesive as it isn't cheap, but thought if it helps it stick I'd rather spend the extra $20. Apparently new concrete doesn't bond to old very well by itself
