but to us, using the android boxes was a bit of a hassle...updates, broken links, slow servers, hit and miss audio/video quality...

So you got exactly what you paid for then.  :P

We still use and like our Nvidia Shield
if we were more avid TV watchers and/or didn't have a "cable" subscription, we'd likely explore our options a bit further (maybe we'll change again down the road, who knows)...but to us, using the android boxes was a bit of a hassle...updates, broken links, slow servers, hit and miss audio/video quality...it was ok and we made do for a couple of years, but we decided to go back to "cable"...we don't smoke or drink, so i guess we can use our smoke and booze money for cable.  ;D
What is the advantage of cable ?
simplicity i guess...turn the tv on, hit the guide/recorded list, watch the shows.

C'mon,   :stick: we know your tuner never leaves Fox News  ;)
definitely not. LOL

yea, not complaining (we still saved a lot of money during that time)...but that's why we eventually went back to cable.

Received an email a few minutes ago saying the $100 rebate for the winter tires i bought for the Frontier in November has been processed and will be sent in the mail within 10 - 15 days.  Good thing because I totally forgot about it.

Bought the cheapest sound bar with boombox on Amazon... :rofl2:
Nice we are looking for a cheap sound bar for our living room tv.  You'll have to let us know what you think of this one.
Just tried it really quick. The sound bar is pretty good but the bass is a bit small.   If you have a big room and want descent bass you might want something a big bigger
Did a bit of research on cheap sound bars and figured I'd give this one a chance https://www.amazon.ca/Subwoofer-Wireless-Bluetooth-Mountable-Surround/dp/B085DXH843/ref=sr_1_23?crid=52ZFQIH17BCL&dchild=1&keywords=sound+bar&qid=1612223152&s=electronics&sprefix=Sound+bar%2Caps%2C433&sr=1-23 Should be here in a week.  Didn't really want an external sub and this one has gotten some pretty good reviews.  It's mainly so we can hear the dialog when watching shows in our living room.  We have a nice LG sound bar with sub in my man cave for sports, movies, and gaming.
Well it arrived right on time this morning.  Simple setup and away we went.  I am no audiophile or expert but I'm very pleased with this.and if anything it's too loud.  Perfect for hearing dialog and a decent amount of bass.  Watching an action movie right now and it's really enhancing the experience.

my wife bought a Makita track saw (corded) and a 75" track for it...sorry, i don't know much about saws, but she's pretty excited about it...she's been watching reviews the past few weeks and decided on that one...picked it up from Busy Bee Tools (local shop on the other side of town) along with some clamps that were on sale for it...she does a lot of projects that involve cutting wood...she's got a nice compound miter saw (DeWalt?) but most of the longer cuts were done with our circular saw, which she's never been a fan of using.

if you are curious what a track saw is (i didn't know what it was), it's one of these (looks like it may be called a "Circular Plunge Saw"):

Nice!  Unfortunately (or fortunately) I've never been able to justify buying one.  To be really useful, wouldn't you need the 118" track so you could cut a 4 x 8 sheet lengthwise?

she rarely works with stuff that long...as well, additional tracks can always be purchased later if needed (they connect together as well, so she could get another 75" and attach them together if needed).

Nice!  Those soundbars make a huge difference in sound quality over the flimsy sounding built-in units on most tvs.  I bought this one on sale last year for our big tv upstairs  because we couldn't put up with the terrible sound quality any longer.

Strangely enough the 12 year old 37" Sony in our bedroom sounds fine as doesn't need one.   Our big 10yr old Panasonic plasma downstairs is connected to a 5.1 surround system but the built-in speaker actually sounds pretty good on its own.  Cabinets were a lot bigger on the older tvs so that helps.

Very nice saw!   A few years ago I salvaged a countertop made of solid oak from an old workbench that was being thrown out at work.  It's over 9' long, almost 5' wide, 2" thick, and weighs around 300lb.  I'd like to be able to make something using the entire piece but it will probably have to be cut in some way and one of those saws is probably the best way to handle that job.  I just can't justify the cost for the one time I would use it, so I'll have to either borrow one, or rent one when i finally figure out what I want to use it for.

Yeah we have an older Panasonic Plasma too and the sound was always fine.  I think in the last 10 years TV's have gotten bigger and better picture quality but the sound has gotten worse.  With the popularity so sound bars I think it's a way for TV manufacturers to make a bit more money by selling you one of their matching sound bars.
