^ Yes, same here.  Chest freezers are such a pain.  In addition, stand ups take up a smaller footprint.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

We've got a smaller chest one (3.4cu ft) that is maybe half full most of the time and it's been more than enough for us. I keep probably 20 frozen water bottles in it as well (use them as ice packs in the cooler), so when we lost power a few years back for a couple of days the water bottles kept everything frozen in there, so it came in handy having them all in there.

we replaced our chest freezer with a standup one...much more convenient.

Well, I did it.  Just ordered 2x Oculus Quest 2's.  They should be here December 14th.

We have one, it's really good!

I'm really looking forward to Beat Saber at first.  I've played it a few times on my BIL's PS4 VR system, and really enjoyed it.  I played a lot of Guitar Hero (and got quite good at it) in my early twenties, so beat saber is a natural progression.

Once I get bored of Beat Saber, I'll probably link it to my PC and start playing some more demanding titles.

Isn't the whole point of Quest 2 to not have it tethered to anything?

Kind of, yes.  It has its own hardware, so you can play completely untethered if you like.  However, the onboard hardware isn't that powerful, therefore the graphics are limited.  You can link it to a PC and use the powerful PC hardware to push much better graphics to the headset.  There are also some games that are only available for PC tethered systems, such as Half Life: Alyx.  And, as I mentioned, some other titles that are available on both the Quest stand-alone platform, and also on PC VR, will have much better graphics when tethered to the PC.

So for games like Beat Saber, and other arcade-y games, I'll probably play them on the Quest's hardware to take advantage of the untethered experience.  But for games that are more about immersion, I'll probably hook them up to my PC in order to get the best possible graphics.

Beat Sabre is great, even the Nat Geo walk around stuff is pretty cool, kayaking through the ice fields. Make sure you are away from anything when you go ice climbing.  :rofl2:

We streamed it to the TV so people could watch, it was hilarious!

Vader Immortal.  Sounds like less of a game, and more if an experience.

Bob, do you play exclusively stand-alone, or do you link it to a PC?

I just play stand alone, that was the whole point of going wireless. It's my son's BTW.

Yea, that makes sense.

I've read there are better headsets if your plan is to be tethered.

Been doing a bit more research.  You can use software called Virtual Desktop (installed both on your PC and the headset) to play PC VR completely wirelessly.  The PC will run the game, then stream the content over your wireless network to the Quest 2.  You need a 5Ghz network (most people have this these days), and a PC hardwired to the router (mine already is - router is next to the PC.  Not only can you play PC VR wirelessly, but you can get your entire desktop experience through the VR headset, completely wirelessly.

The software costs $22.99 for the Quest 2, which is about what an aftermarket Link cable would cost, so I think I'll just go that route.

Not sure if its worth it to wait black Friday, dont want to deal with crowds.

Think Costco still has 90 day price protection. Buy now and go back later for your refund.
