That's a neat idea to use the pellets. Not an issue for us, as we've got a bunch of firewood stacked under the eaves of the garage, so it stays nice and dry.

My wife and I just used the Biolite the other night, and she had it out again for a get-together with some of her friends two days ago. Still works great, but I think I was expecting a little too much from it. We both like the idea of a fire, but hate feeling and smelling all smoky afterwards: I was really hoping the Biolite would eliminate that. It does cut way, way down on the smoke, but it's still there.

I guess if you kept your distance it would be fine, but of course we can't help sitting close and getting in there to play with the burning logs. I had a shower afterwards, but still felt kind of smoky for a day. Yuck.  [emoji14]

Now my wife says she wants a propane fire pit in the back yard.  [emoji14]  [emoji14]
I do note...the smoke from these smells wonderful...since these are used for smoking foods.

I love the smell of smoke LOL.

And yes, I wouldn't be opposed to a propane pit as long as the tank was contained within the pit (for aesthetic reasons)
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

^^ I said propane, but actually meant natural gas. When we built the patio, we had a natural gas line run to the middle of the patio underground and capped off. Just have to find it and dig it up.

I was against the gas fire pit, so that was the compromise when we built the patio: wood fireplace for now, possibility of gas later. I never really intended to follow through with the gas one (don’t tell my wife!  ;) ) but now I’m thinking it’s a definite maybe.

Wood smoke never bothered me much before, but now it’s taking the fun out of enjoying a fire.

It's a happy to smell to me...so I'm good with it!

Try living with that when you don't have a fire pit, but your neighbour does.  I open my windows when the weather is cool, and there's nothing worse than going to bed when your bedroom smells like wood smoke in the evening. It should be illegal in urban areas.  Campfires belong on campgrounds.

i've been using a Worx 20V cordless trimmer the last few years as it was cheap and on sale so i figured i would try it...it works ok, but struggles in longer/thicker grass...came across this on sale for $30 off (so, $269.95 complete with battery and charger)...man, it is awesome (so much better than the 20V unit):

I have become a Stihl slappy.  I've got a gas weed whacker and mini tiller.
Bought this battery blower a couple weeks ago, very happy with it.

I just picked up the EGO 530CFM blower. Really happy but probably overkill for my yard. Man these battery blowers have come a long way. That STIHL looks great.

Yeah they really have.
It doesn't have quite the power of my old corded one, but pretty close.  The convenience of it more than makes up for that

Very nice!

In Fredericton I'm required to have a grate on the fire pit and it needs to be inspected by the fire department before you can use it.  ::)

So, my aging 27-inch iMac (mid-2011 model) is finally on its last legs, and can no longer get updates or a new OS.  It has performed flawlessly for almost 10 years, so it really owes me nothing at this point.  It recently started shutting down after about an hour's use, and a quick web search told me that this was due to overheating.  These units are notorious for lack of ventilation, and now I'm sure I've got a pantload of dust in there as well.  I considered sending it out to be cleaned, but that does not resolve the issue of obsolescence.

I had been agonizing for weeks over replacement options.  One consideration was image processing, which meant SSD + lots of power was the way to go.  Adobe Lightroom always ran very slowly on my Mac, and its lack of processing power was one of the reasons.

This afternoon I picked up an HP Envy laptop with the following specs:
- 17.3" FHD IPS LED display
- Multi-touch enabled touchscreen
- Intel Core i7-1065G7 Processor
- 1 TB SSD [3]
- 4-cell, 55.67 Wh
- 16 GB SODIMM DDR4 SDRAM
- Bang and Olufsen sound
- NVIDIA GeForce Graphics
- Fingerprint reader

I usually have a hard time with laptop keyboards, but this one is huge and backlit and includes a numeric keypad.

I'm pretty pleased.  The only fly in the ointment is that my copy of Lightroom 6 is on a CD-ROM, and this laptop does not have a disc reader.  Would anyone know if I can just copy the one on my Mac over to my external drive, then pull it in from there?  Or am I royally screwed?  I don't mind buying a whole new version, but it seems silly to do that if I don't have to.  Or I could just buy an external reader, do the transfer, then return the reader...  :rofl2:

^^ Nice! I’ve got a mid-2011 iMac as well. I maxed out the RAM a few years ago, and it still seems to be going ok... really don’t feel like spending any money on a new one...  :-\

Congrats!  I'm sure you didn't buy it for this reason but you have to love marketing and branding. Laptop speakers suck no matter how great the name is on them.

- Bang and Olufsen sound

For Lightroom, could you download a version from the company's store and plunk in your s/n from the old version? Might be a long shot.

Yeah, I know that laptop speakers aren't the greatest.  But at least they made an effort?   ;D  TBH, I wanted to come as close to a gaming unit as I could, without dropping more than $1500.  SSD and processing power were my main targets, not sound.

I had thought of the download from the Adobe website.  I might email them if I can't find answers.  Pretty sure I registered my copy when I bought it.

All done over a chat box on the Adobe website!  He sent me the installer .exe and it took less than 5 minutes.
