Added a bench.

Looks great man!!
Well done!

Thanks.  I'm no pro, but I get a little pleasure out of doing things myself. Finally bought myself some new sawblades too, and one with more than 20 teeth - ripper blades are good, but wow, 40 or 60 whatever it was...ok, now THAT'S how you cut trim/MDF and nice wood!  We ended up painting the stairs with that concrete stuff, Granite Grip, it looks good, hope it's as tough as it feels.  No more slipping on wet steps.  Might get stuck though and fall face first now.

Next up my wife wants to put these on the ceiling... :P ::)  Something like this https://www.homedepot.ca/product/ceilume-cambridge-2-ft-x-2-ft-lay-in-or-glue-in-white-ceiling-tile/1000718940
Problem is our house is about as square as Ontario.  Can be out over an inch at 12-14'.  No fixing that.

Nice work BW!

I want to change out the thermostat in the apartment. It's likely from the 1960s and a mercury switch, maybe bimetallic. Either way, I suspect it's past its prime, and it looks pretty dated.

I can't seem to figure out how to take it apart. Usually thermostats just have a plastic or metal cover that pops off.

If anybody has a suggestion, I'm all ears.

^Did you try pulling on it to see if it will pop off? Or pry it with a screwdriver?

I did a bit. It's really secure.

I'd rather not destroy it until I know what I'm dealing with. I don't think it's pneumatic, but I'm not 100% sure either.

Could be actually... looks very commercial style. What is it controlling, baseboard electric heaters, or are they radiant ones with water running through them? I'm assuming there's no forced air system?

Where's Airbalancer... this is his shtick   :rofl2:

Not wanting or willing to step up to the elite world of Yeti and other coolers, found this one which sits above basic and below elite but at a reasonable price. Will be taking it for a test run for a week of camping very soon. Also have to love Amazon Prime shipping, less than 24 hours from when I ordered it.

Sir O, that looks like an old Robertshaw mechanical unit, similar to this, mounted on an adapter.  I would pull the dial off, it looks like it fits on a D shaft (yellow in the pic of this one). You might have to hook something under the dial knob to get enough leverage.

That looks good.  I'm still using my old Coleman 5-Day cooler and it seems to do fine.  I have noticed that the newer ones seem to be thinner while having the same rating.

I remember i had to remove the radiator when i did the waterpump and oil filter housing seal....  but now i look at it, and the sucker's got 2 fans, oil cooler below, tons of shrouds...  how did i do this before?

They look pneumatic to me
When you move the dial do you hear any air release ?

That's the confusing bit. I should hear either a contact close (unless it's a mercury switch), or air release. I can't hear either. That's why I think it's failed. Well that, and the heat just cranks out of it.

I think you're right Mark. I've been poking around, And I think it likely is pneumatic. Dang.

I'd have to replace it with something like Johnson Controls WT-4000 if I want to control it properly. And they're pricey.
