Yeah, lets just say no other Samsung appliance will enter our home.

This was the beginning of one review of my stove:

We bought this stove a few days after last x-mas, 2014.  We had tried 2 Samsung Induction stoves, one lasted 18 months and the next lasted 3 weeks, which burnt out on X-mas day.  We later found out that Samsung are newer at induction stoves.  So glad we went back to Kenmore.  It works great!

That would really frost my a$$.

That said, I did shell out $200 for a three-year extended warranty.  Just in case.

Our appliances are 3 years old...maybe 4, we are on our second fridge and the dishwashers ejector pump is already noisy again.
Lighten up Francis.....

Electrolux.  At least their induction stoves are made by Electrolux.  As I mentioned earlier, they make Frigidaire too.  All three brands are recommended by C.R.

If you go to a Sears where they stock name brand appliances, you can look at them and see which Kenmore are made by who.  I did that when looking at front-loading washers, between the design and the 'made in...' labels, it was easy to see which were which.

Dammit.  After making sure that all my awesome pots held a magnet yesterday (the test for induction compatibility), I realized tonight that I forgot to test my three ceramic-coated non-stick frying pans in varying sizes.  Turns out that they do not hold a magnet, and therefore will not work on my new induction stove.   :P

Other than non-stick, all I have are a 10" cast-iron pan and a 12" stainless steel pan.  I believe I see shopping opportunity before me.   ;D

Something I don't need, is non-stick pans.  Guess you can have too much.  But they going on sale often, so I buy them!

I bought a Paderno frying pan/sauce pan set when I moved into my first apartment back in 1988. They still get regular use today, and look and work as good as when they were new. I'm sure I'll still have them when I move into the seniors residence (will they even let me cook in there? ??? )

Bought them at Woodward's. Can't remember when that chain went belly up, but it was a while ago.

Our paderno stuff is over 20 years old and still looks new.  One of my cast iron frying pans has been in the family since way before I was born.

When Sears goes bankrupt in Canada (within at most 2 years) will you still have warranty?

I was told that the warranty company will still be around, so... yes.

The stove arrived three hours ago!  I'm holding off on using it until 5:00 or so, as it was stone cold when they brought it in.  Must have spent the night in the truck.

It occurred to me today that I spend the most money on what I consider my most important interests:  photography (L glass lens and prosumer camera, plus a 27" iMac for processing photos), movies (55" TV and surround sound), outdoor activities (technical clothing and footwear/gear) and cooking (the new stove).  The old stove was the last of my "toys" that was making me hate the activity, and even avoid it some days.

Review: NOCO G3500 UltraSafe Smart Battery Charger
« Reply #4018 on: January 13, 2016, 08:18:45 pm »
We've had no snow so I've been driving my Lexus.  But we got a decent dumping (4") and with the LS rolling on all-seasons, I had to pull out the Forester.  But the battery was dead.  Stone dead.  I have a Battery Tender Jr. that I like quite a lot.  But it's really is nothing more than a battery maintainer, .75a and all.  It might be able to charge a dead battery..but it would take days IMO.  So I needed something a bit stronger to charge a battery in cold weather.

I've heard plenty of good things about NOCO.  They had many battery chargers.  I wanted it future proof as much as possible and to be able to charge my small batteries if need be (scooter, lawnmower, etc).  And also price played a part.  So I settled on the NOCO G3500 which is 3.5a  It has pretty much every feature you could hope for:

-Works on most batteries: Wet, Gel, MF, EFB, AGM and Li-Ion
-Has 12V normal and cold charging (3.5a).  It also has 12V charging (norm and cold) for smaller batteries (.9a)
-Can do 6V
-Has a repair mode for highly sulphated batteries.
-Small footprint
-Very nice snap in connectors called "X-Connect" for their traditional clamps and other charging accessories.
-5 year warranty

Cost was $87 from CDN Tire.  I plugged it in to my dead battery and went to sleep.  I got up 6 hours later and it was 100% charged.  So it seems to work as advertised.  I'm pretty impressed with all the features.  I've long been a Battery Tender slappy, having used them for many years.  But if this is any indication of NOCO products, I could see myself buying another down the road.

Overall...pretty impressed with it.

You can see all of the features here..I only listed a few.  https://no.co/g3500

Ha ha!  Do what makes you happy.

I can honestly say that I was blown away by induction cooking today.  In general, when it comes to cooking, timing is everything.  On an electric coil stove (which was what I had), your steak will cook faster than your boiled potatoes, if that's what you're having (I love boiled potatoes with butter and chives or green onions).  So, in the past, I always had to do math (Start the potatoes earlier than the steaks - at least ten minutes.  When they start to boil, wait five minutes and then start the steaks).

Tonight, I watched my pot of potatoes start boiling within a minute of me putting them on the stove.  I was stunned.

This changes everything, for me.  It may not make a difference to anyone else, but now I want to try a multitude of recipes that I had never considered before.  The oven will be tested on the weekend.
