Nice work. I've done similar myself and I know the amount of patience and attention to detail it takes to get it looking good. Karma for helping out a buddy too :)

Nice work Wing, wish I had that talent.  Hey Firm, when can I bring over my primed front bumper cover for the van to be painted (not attached)?

lol

Probably took around 5-6 hours total, maybe more?  First piece was an experiment.  I had some issues with paint sticking oddly in some places and had to redo a few parts of it a couple of times.

Next pieces should be easier now that I have the process down.  Also if I clear immediately after putting on the base coat it seems to turn out better than waiting for the base coat to dry then putting clear on.  So that would save me time and not having to do the middle sanding step to smooth out bumps.

But yeah not making any money, I just ask him to pay for the paint supplies.
Boss. Almost therapeutic eh? ;)

HA! I am down to help in the warmer weather. Unless it's metallic paint, I haven't had much luck spraying that.

Nice work Wing!!

I painted a motorcycle tank a million years ago and it gave me a ton of respect for professionals.  I'm very patient with respect to many things, painting was not one of them.

Getting me a cold rush machine
Works great , if you start with it full of ice it will keep the water ice cold, for 6 hours
you can adjust the cooling temp by the speed of the  flow though the pad

The next piece is this one.   Already spent two hours haven't got very far.   Pieces of carbon were replaced so lots of sanding and bondo on this one.

4 hours later.   Ready for primer.

I primed it,  now I'm tired and to get it perfect there is another 8 hours min.

Got my winter alloys on. X-ice3 are directional and I forgot but noticed just in time a little "r" on one of the rims: rears are wider so there is no way to rotate the wheels, unless tires get re-mounted. But there is no noticeable wear on the tires, they will likely outlast the car. Oh, and the rims came from a Genesis coupe and they are gorgeous.  :)

Last year picture:

and a picture taken by original rims owner.

I don't know.   I need more practice,  put too much bondo on and sand forever.

I was going on the theory that if I can feel it I can see it.   Sure enough even things I couldn't feel were missed.

But that's the game I guess.

Not 100% sure how perfect it needs to be....   I primed it and some spots obviously need more sanding.   But a few spots you can see where the putty to no putty transition is but you can feel it.

So are those okay ?  I have a feeling it will still be visible after paint.

If you can't feel it then it can most likely be block sanded out after primer. I use the same "if I can feel it then I'll see it" theory when I am working on the filler. Once it get it all feeling smooth I lay down a few coats of primer and then block sand, if you've got enough primer down you can sand out those transition spots perfectly.

I've been plugging away at the bedroom update. Finished installing crown molding (and filled, sanded and primed it) and installed a ceiling medallion thingy. I've got 10 days off between xmas and New Years so the plan is to get through the bulk of the work then...hardwood, baseboards, paint, etc.

Ignore my ghetto rigged temporary light fixture (it's just hanging from one screw)

^ What about the ghetto blinds?   LOL!  Looking good Firm, pace yourself.  Remember, it's the holidays.  Rome wasn't built in a day.
