For the last while I've been borrowing my neighbours floor jack when changing out the tires. It's worked well enough but has always been an inconvenience.

I saw this was heavily discounted so I decided to pick one up. Between the two cars and the boat trailer it should get some use.

After replacement wheel came in, brung it to my local mechanic to mount its winter tire, then my son came with his Volt this Sunday. We took out my 2 floor jack but need my spare (Cruze) jack to lift just enough to push my 2 hydraulic jack under...
The Volt is really a low car, not much ground clearance under its belly!

Fun facts: Both front wheels have 13/16" nuts and both rear were 3/4", at least there is some form of consistancy  :foil:

I don't think it's by design. Weird. 3/4" is very close to a 19mm socket. Do you know what lug nuts a Volt comes equipped with?

Two of them might have lost the chrome cover? By the look of it that would change the size slightly

If its like the two piece lug nut design on my wife's old acadia, the nut underneath the chrome cover would start to corrode and cause the cover to bulge slightly. Really annoying and dumb design. Once a few of them started rusting/expanding I replaced them all with a once piece design.

Definitively not by design! Someone, someday, put what it got the closet match under hand. Too late to test no my son's car but my guess it is 19mm, all the car is metric! I have to check mine.  Online part: Wheel Nut - GM # 9598708

Yeah, typical nut design to cheaper their cost imho, without accounting salt corrosion!

I'll do the same next spring, I'll try to find solid piece nut as they were in the good old days  :shuffle:

I'd rectify that and make sure all the lugs match, or at least carry the appropriate lug wrench in the car. You don't want to get a flat somewhere and not have the right lug wrench to break the bolts free. Had that happen once when I was driving someone else truck that had aftermarket lugs that were a different size than the factory lug wrench - made for a pretty bad night.

Exactly, this was my primary reason for replacing all the lug nuts on the Acadia. Annoying but easy to deal with at home with all the tools but not so easy on the side of the road...

Same with those anti theft nuts. Had a coworker where a flat tire turned into a long winter wait for a tow as she was missing that special socket when she needed it

I took off all the locking nuts that came with the RX and replaced them with ordinary ones. The Costco tire shop had a large selection of regular lug nuts for cheap

I used to take the lock nuts off cars as soon as I got home, after I had one overtorqued by a dealer break during a removal attempt. With the price of our wheel&tire combos these days, I now leave them on, especially with the stay-behind car. The longer nuts that came with the PMC tire kit for the CX-90 require their own tool - this and the lock are hidden in the car.

That is some serious glass!

I set up an old timey barometer on the weekend, so far it has been very sensitive to pressure changes. Looking forward to seeing how well it forecasts storms coming in

Turns out this has been surprisingly useful. Not so much for weather, but for people

Ordered some vinyl storage stands about 6 weeks ago, finally arrived yesterday. Basically Ikea grade Chinese made stuff for Crosley Furniture. Tried to get a local cabinet guy to make me some, but he wasn't interested. Put them together today, seem solid enough. Loaded a few albums in to see how they'd look, now to load the rest... probably close to 600ish I figure. Each stand can hold around 320 albums.

^^ Record store-style, albums facing out! Nice layout to browse between albums and enjoy the covers. I often regret selling my collection 20 years ago  :'(

How were you to know Vinyl would make a massive comeback?

My daughter is massively into music.  We are giving her a record player (just a cheap one) for christmas.  She already has one record of her favorite artist, and is actively looking at more.

Do you think it's advisable to put floor protectors under the legs? Will the vinyl floor support the weight without leaving indents?

Nice Vinyl collection!  My Dad use to have a lot of vinyl, close 6ft tall stacked.  When i started college i told my not to sell any as it would gain value and wanted all of them.  He gave them away!! :'(

Well I usually try to stay away from cults but today I failed.  I ordered an Apple product, Mac Mini 24GB, 512GB.    I have many 4k videos with my camera and phones pictures...etc. and i need a competent computer to deal with all of this.  I initially started looking at PC builds but then Final Cut Pro what I wanted.

anyone here does editing on videos or pictures?

I wouldn't say Apple is a cult, as long as you know what the advantages and limitations are.  If the piece of software you would like to use works best on a Mac, then it's the one for you.

Their M2 chip is certainly a powerhouse.  That being said, with only 512GB of storage you may find yourself quickly running out of storage if you're dealing with lots of 4K videos.  A large external drive, or a NAS will be a must for you.

There are adjustable feet on the bottom of the legs, I believe it will be okay.
