Great thing to have particularly for price quoted.  How long did it take to fill assuming 1/2 inch supply and 50 psi supply?

About 6 hours.

I assume you have kids? When the kids are gone that would make an awesome fish farm.

Of Course.  She couldn't wait to try it out when it was nearly full.  Even though the water was 14C.

You won't find me in the pool until the water is at least at 20C.  I've got a solar heater hooked up to it, though, so all I need is about a week of nice weather and sunshine to bring the temperature up considerably.  The last time I had the pool up (two summers ago), that pool heater brought the water temp up to a warm 28-30C, and probably extended our pool season by a good few weeks.

Would tacking a series of garden hoses on that fence and hooking to the pool circulating pump be worth the effort?

^ Heard that works good.

GBA, is your solar heater one of those black coiled hose units? Always wonder how well they work.  We had a 14' round pool for the kids when they were younger for a few years.  Was always so damn cold, even if we kept it covered.  Colder than the lake which I always found odd.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Yes, my heater is one of those coiled dome units.  identical to this:  https://www.poolsuppliescanada.ca/solar-dome-swimming-pool-heater.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw_LL2BRAkEiwAv2Y3SdCuhDZrdARg1FM5LlA014pojCra0_LWrn8xvoQXbnSgoCTUGjvX1hoC7LAQAvD_BwE

They work very well when you consider that the only energy you use is for the pump to circulate the water, which you'll be doing anyway.  The only caveat is that you want to run your pump during the day, otherwise the pool heater isn't very functional, lol.  I have mine on a timer to come on at 11AM when the sun first hits it, and shut off at 6PM when it loses the sun.  You can even buy multiples and run them in series if you have a larger pool.  My single heater works well for my relatively small pool.  When I filled the pool on Saturday, the water coming out of the hose was 14C.  The next day it was 16C, and as of yesterday evening, it was already at 20C.  I have no doubt we'll hit 30C or more water temp during July/August, as long as we get enough sunny days.

I also have a solar blanket on the pool when it's not in use, which also helps warm the top layer of the pool (and prevents excess water evaporation).

Would tacking a series of garden hoses on that fence and hooking to the pool circulating pump be worth the effort?

It would work, but I don't think would be worth the effort, not when these dome heaters are relatively cheap.

My old corded blower is in rough shape, so want to replace it with a cordless battery model.
Anyone have recommendations?
There is a Dewalt model that has benefit of using my existing 20V drill battery packs, so leaning towards that one

Sure Kurt, and, if you sign up for e-mail alerts you get $10 off the price of the sail.
I screwed in four chrome plated eye hooks in the four corners of the pergola to attach the sail D hooks to.
The sail filters out 90% of UVA/UVB rays.

Best $60 I ever spent was on this sail purchased at Lowe’s a few years back. Makes great shade for the pergola.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

Put a deposit on a canoe yesterday.

Esquif Prospecteur 16'. Made in Frampton Quebec. There has beena strong demand for canoes and I may or may not get one in the next month or so. Esquif's new material T-formex looks to improve upon the the old Royalex which disappeared form the market a few years back .Canoe manufacturers have been scrambling ever since to find/develop a suitable replacement. It looks like Esquif succeeded.

How much, brother?

$2300. No real deals since they are backordered.  New heavy plastic canoes are $1100-$1200 (Nova Craft PS3)  This is about 25 lbs lighter and durable. Rivers round here are quite shallow so lots of grounding out etc so fibreglass does not do well. The Prospector shape is classic and can handle smaller lakes and perform well on the river. I looked for about 2 months to find a good used canoe but no dice. POS sell for about $750 and up.

Awesome.  My cedar/fiberglass canoe is Prospector Ranger Hull, but a 15'.  It does weigh a good 15lbs less than yours, at 50lbs, but that's probably mostly a function of the 1' shorter length.  Cedar Strip canoes do tend to be on the lighter side, though, as they don't have any extra reinforcing to stiffen the hull.

The Prospector series is a very versatile hull design.  It's got great cargo capacity, and an excellent balance of primary and secondary stability.  When empty (i.e. not loaded up for a weekender), it's easy to paddle and quite maneuverable, maybe at the expense of outright speed.

I'm not experienced with the new material T-Formex.  I may be a little biased, however, with my cedar strip canoe, but the only other material I'd migrate towards in a canoe would be a kevlar canoe, but you pay pretty big money for those things.  The biggest drawback to a cedar canoe is that you can't take them down any white water, as they're very easy to damage.  That shouldn't be a concern for your canoe.

Anyway, enjoy the canoe, and happy paddling.

Nice canoe!

We got a good deal on our ultralight Kevlar Clipper Tripper-S a few years ago. It was used, but barely. Considered Prospectors as a great all-round boat, but decided to focus on flat water and something really light.

Friends have a Royalex Prospector and convinced us to go for a run down the Bow between Banff and Canmore a few years ago. Our canoe handled the class 2 water fine, but of course on our next outing I noticed a leak. Didn’t even hit any rocks in the river, so must have happened in an eddy or put in / take out.  ::)

Got it patched up and it’s good as new. Not going to be doing any more river trips in it, though. :shake:
