^^^  Same here.   Kindle unlimited is nearly keeping up but I actually had to buy a few Kindle books, ones that had been in my wish list waiting for publication.

Although I did venture to the Costco gas bar today  for Premium at 88.9.

My 2 y.o. pool pump started dripping at the end of last season, so I knew the seal was shot - salt build-up as evidence (my in-ground has a salt chlorinator). Pool stores reopened on April 20th (essential service?), so I was able to buy a new seal kit for 10$ (cheapest online was 32$...). Took the pump apart, cleaned everything, swapped in the seal kit, done. Motor bearings seemed fine, so I left that alone for now.

Of course, it snowed this morning and it's -14 C windchill outside...  ::)

When it warms up, I'll hook it up and I'll add some schock to the water to make it blue again.

On to the next project...
A 2 y.o pool pump is practically brand new. Warranty?
Knock on wood my 12y.o pump has had zero issues and I leave out all winter.

The sum total of my buying in recent weeks has been groceries, booze and books for my Kindle.  :(

Sounds like me...plus ordering a few things for the kids.  Books, some new Lego, craft/art/school supplies, and puzzles.  Whatever it takes to occupy them while minimizing screen time.

Garden stuff has been the only thing for me, was happy to find some seed potatoes and onions at the local Co-op yesterday

Seedwise I was lucky to order well ahead of time, most online seed places are now running 30 days or so behind schedule for orders

Gloves and console are both going back.  glove too small, game console while nifty, ain't very good.

Funny story: Where I grew up, we lived down the road of a large chicken egg farm.  It resided on a massive property.  We used to go snowmobiling and frequently across the back of their property where a creek was...you'd zig zag in and out of the creek edge where snow and drifts collect.  This is called "ditch banging".  One year after a big, windy snow we were out sledding.  Because of the winds, there were some massive drifts which was always fun to ride through/on.  We came across the property of the egg farm and saw this HUGE drift. So we hit the drift dead on!  Except it wasn't a drift.  It was a huge pile of chicken poo covered with snow that looked like a drift.  We promptly sank the sleds into said pile of poo....that was now actively steaming because we had broken into it.

Was fairly terrible having to dig sleds out of steaming chicken poo.

Last October we had a big dump of snow that damaged a lot of trees.  I have a 35' maple in the back yard that lost a bunch of branches.  There were also 3 branches that only partially broke about 2/3 of the way up and stubbornly refused to break off completely throughout the winter so I had to trim them off.  I cobbled together these 3 items and trimmed off the branches:

- Extension pole that extends to 22 1/2 ft
  https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/home/home-care/extension-poles/71682-telescoping-extension-poles
- Pole adapter
  https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/home/home-care/extension-poles/76432-pole-adapter
- Pole saw
  https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/garden/garden-care/saws/101920-pole-saw-head

The total cost was $122.05, taxes in.  I didn't get an estimate but I figure an arborist would have charged at least $200-300

Lee Valley have a proper tree trimming kit but it was about 2 1/2 times the price and its reach was only 18', not sufficient for my application

Now that I have an extension pole that extends to 22 1/2 ft, I just need to buy a brush attachment so I can easily wash my second story windows.  ::)

yup, the blade made short work of cutting the branches off; the hooked end was useful in pulling the cut branches off the tree

:iagree:

I started buying from Lee Valley circa 1980 when they were a mail order business with only one location in Ottawa
