Budget... Not too surei see some on amazon around 50$ or 100$ some are on special 120 from 180.. no clue whats the difference. Our house is 2100sf on 2 floors... And then another 600 in the garage.  I want to learn as less as possible lol...simple user friendly.

I'm pretty happy with my Asus AC1900 (RT-68U).  Tons of easy to use features.  The Prental Controls is awesome.   ;D

I'm sure there's a newer version as this one is a couple years old....on the other hand, you may be able to get it cheaper.

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

You on a cable/internet plan? Do they not provide the router? I have a shaw router with their new cable system (wi fi not using coaxial.) I think it is 300 MBs or something. All I know is we can stream 4-5 devices at once and nary a blip.

I had Telus come twice to replace our router/modem because we were having issues.

After it still didn’t work right, I finally figured out the problem was a switch we had installed downstream.  :-[

just internet not cable, with shaw

Phone up their :censor:/complain line and tell them you want one of these new modems or you are off to Telus!  Just say the regular stream is choppy and spiking etc.

The Asus RT68U is a good workhorse router.     It is available with mesh units to give good signal over a big house.   Unlike many consumer routers it gets regular updates from Asus.  This may not seem important but it shows that ASUS is serious about its products.

Mine is driving 2 PCs, 1 laptop, 1 NAs and two other devices on ethernet  and 2 phones,1 watch, 2 Ipads, 2 Roku sticks, 1 garage door  and a washer and dryer on Wifi. A mix of 2.4 and 5 Ghz.   Handles IPV6 properly, Rogers internet provides native IPV6.

Good description.

Does everything I've thrown at it.

I run Merlin on mine....a few extra features.

And yea, the AI Mesh is simplicity itself.

And their new(ish) phone app works very well indeed.

That’s too funny. I bought a new dishwasher a few months ago and they had a model with WiFi. Why the hell would I want to spend an extra $500 for a dishwasher with WiFi? ???

Maybe it’s a useful feature, but I’m happy to remain ignorant and keep the extra cash in my pocket.  :)

I don't need the mesh but if I did ( unlikely in a 1200 sqft house)   I would probably go with Ubiquiti gear sitting behind a pfsense router/firewall.

I bought this grill and surround. I believe it is from a 1928 - 1930 International Six Speed Special truck. Needs some work obviously but a neat design. I am going to clean it up. Would love to find an old truck chassis, fabricate a body with this grill. I still have the Austin A40 steering wheel which has a vintage vibe too it as well. Either that or it will be garage art I guess.

I am going to clean it up.

Just take the dirt/dust off, and leave it as is, IMO.  The patina is charming.  Maybe protect with a clearcoat so it doesn't deteriorate further.

Not sure I’d agree that flaking, bubbling rust and peeling paint is “patina.”

I’d give it a good wire brushing, at the very least. Once you start, though, it’s hard to know when to stop. Wouldn’t want it looking like a restoration project that you never got around to finishing.   :-\
