December 24th Travel Through Milton-Whitby 401 Stretch?
« on: December 19, 2008, 09:25:08 pm »
I'm trying to plan my Christmas travel day. Either Dec 23rd after dark or on December 24th during the day. Anyone happen to remember what this trip through Toronto area is like on December 24th?

It's all about the weather.  That period of time usually has the least traffic volume of the whole year.

When in doubt use the 407.

I would use the 407  for sure if I was bypassing Toronto.

Dec 24th I remember as usually being chaotic on the 401 in the core and the DVP.   Shoppers in a hurry combined with people leaving work early after an unaccustomed  drink at lunchtime. Not to mention people trying to get out of town for Xmas... people who don't usually drive in TO rush hour.

They are writing about 10-15 cm for 24th :o
It should be a nice drive to pick up my mom, and bring back to Cobourg for the Christmas

Oddly enough Toronto ended up being smooth sailing on the 24th.  The problem areas areas ended up being Guelph Line area area and Belleville ().
