A betting man would buy shares of construction related service companies that are not heavily leveraged.

Early '90's stuff happen quickly
'89 construction booming , '90 dead

Yes, it did (particularily in some Cdn markets, such as the GTA) and it did it also in 1981 when interest rates went skyhigh; but I don't recall the pullback as being so global in scope, and so massive. No countries and economies are exempt this time. Even the OPEC countries will be hurt!!

About 2 years ago, we stopped having a Christmas party.  We used to have one at a nice country club where the prime rib was amazing.  Since then, the owner has been handing out $50 gift cards for the grocery store...which I promptly donate to the local food bank.

We also get a pizza party on our last day of work.  Pizza delivered to the shop with pop.  We just kinda sit around and socialize.  My friend Bobby and I always play poker till morning at the casino after the pizza party.  Our own little tradition I suppose...
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

We have to pay our own way for our Christmas party, no funding.  Attendance is optional.

Our is this Saturday eve. Fairly nice Adult dinner and dance for 800 people or so which is less than half the actual employes and guest. It's out in the East end this year which is why were not going. We don't have a party for the kids except for the Summer Bar-B-Q. Taxi chits for those that need them and special discount rates on hotel.

For the first time in about 16 years my wife's organization canceled the X-Mas party.   Praise The Lord.  Cost me $300 and forced to sit with the political invitees all the while the rank and file get hammered at the other tables.  :P

11 support ppl terminated and 15 professional staff in last two weeks.  First time ever for layoffs and they're not coming back. Nasty stuff.

Ours is next week.

Had ours at a local restaurant a couple of weeks ago. There were probably about 80 of us (employees and spouses - no kids) for a nice buffet dinner with an open bar.

Got my Christmas bonus yesterday, too.  :)

Had ours earlyish. Dinner at a nice restaurant, then we went to the Keith's brewery for a tour and all the free beer you could take for two hours. Then to a pub for more free booze and free food. It was a great time, but needless to say, kind of a sloppy night  :P

Pffff.  I don't bother.  I'm not in the mood to pay $50 for a ticket for crappy food and have to pay for drinks all the while listening to co-workers talk about how great they are.  Not my cup of tea.  :)
