Why is avoiding paying tax and buying cheap knock offs either smart or funny?

Pricing on sale is around $1500.00

I saw that model for $900 at Pacific Mall but I'm thinking of the Panny instead for a little more. 
Cheap because they're grey-market direct imports from Asia (no canadian distribution markups, but no canadian warranty).
Probably that same Samsung model is about $600-$700 in Korea.
And of course no sales tax at Pacific Mall if you pay cash as Asians are smart and don't pay sales tax, haha
Don't forget the matching stand too.

After watching a couple of HD stations, I can believe how bad SD station are

Vanns has it for US$1500 shipped and no tax, but obviously that's impractical here for a big tv.
Now I'm thinking I may have gotten the wrong model at PM, perhaps off by one letter/number.
Anyway yeah at PM they'll definitely try to stiff whitey with a higher price and sales tax hehe.
I was at PM today, some stores were hiding stuff away... they say cops are going there daily to harrass 'em about bootleg dvd's and tax and direct imports etc.
Meanwhile home invasions and gang shootings in toronto continue with impunity.

FTA is still alive & well. The only issue is Bell's major upgrade. Once their upgrade is done, things will be back to normal.

Aside from the fact nobody really knows where Nagra3 is headed, the much more significant issue is that last Thursday BCE was declared insolvent by the KPMG audit.  That means the Teachers leveraged bailout of BCE buyout is off (teachers & citi have been frantic for a legal out all year).  BCE is in big trouble now.  No doubt BCE will be forced to dump assets, and BEV will likely be among the first things punted. 

Dish will also likely cease to exist sometime next year.  Source: BusinessWeek.

I can only pick up one HD station over the air.  I think I may need a bigger antenna.
