Ok for you nit pickers
« on: November 17, 2008, 09:05:13 pm »
Haha

Ok so nitpickers, how do you like black instead of light cherry?  Grills on they are completely black of course, I just removed the grills for now because... well I think they look spiffy.

Oh and before anyone says it, I'd like lower stands but I just grabbed these for now.

Looks much better!

I like how the narrower stands fit better in the small space than the bulkier floorstanding speakers did.

What he said.
You don't buy $1500 speakers to keep the grills on -- they are off until I get bored and they go on.

Too industrial/modern for your space.  There was nothing wrong with the other setup.

Wouldn't the grille protect the speakers from the cat boxing them as they vibrate?

I think you need to display "SKIN" on the TV screen.  :)

grills off is much better, all you need now is kids to come round and push the cones in!

 :o :o :o

Looks great!

Since we're nitpicking, it should be nitpickers not "nit pickers" in the thread title.  ;)

Oh yeah, the speakers look awesome!  What are they?

Yeah the stands are about 3" too high I think, but they are close.  They are Plateau stands, fairly heavy made by Paradigm I believe.

Dorin the speakers are Paradigm Reference Studio 40's

You know what is really annoying?  The TV is crooked!

You can tell because the shelf is perfectly level.  I guess one side of the TV is heavier than the other, there is no way to straighten it... drives me insane!

I had to shim the pedestal on my Sharp for the same reason.  Are you able to do that?

It's not the pedestal, it isn't mounted solid on the base and it moves slightly.  The base is level but the TV sitting on it is not.

Perhaps I can shim between the base and the TV (unscrew it shim and re-screw it).  That's a possibility -- I also considered adding a counterweight on the other side, tapped to the back.

 :)

Can you hang the TV on the wall, and make it appear so that it on top of the new stand?
