Got the credenza setup done.
« on: November 15, 2008, 06:41:03 pm »
So I finally got my credenza build all completed.  Topped it off with a nice shelf on the wall up top since the wall looked so bare afterwards.

Picture of the old setup (that everyone on here razzed me for).

Finally the "upgrade"

Is it just me or does anyone else miss the old days when they actually finished building furniture at the factory before they sold it to the customer.  ::)

BTW...Looks nice Wing
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Only took about an hour to build -- but yes if it was already built it would have been easier.

Much better.

But... something about that shelf hanging way up there seems odd to me. Maybe it's just the picture.  :-\

And cost more.  Can't win every fight.  :/

The new unit looks much better.  Love the colour.

Probably the picture ;).  It's crooked and the shelf isn't haha -- it's hard to tell the height from the picture as well, it's about a foot higher than the TV.  Without anything there it was so blank looking something had to go on the wall.

This leaves room to upgrade to a 65" screen ;)

You know the picture looks weird.  Everything looks much smaller than it is.

Also got a centre channel now that I had a place for it.  Sound stage is much better than using the 2 mains on ghost mode for sure.

Looks better.  The TV doesn't dwarf the furniture any more.   :)

My that's a really nice pair of $#*&#%*@ you have there. ;D  But, going to a much bigger screen will mean there is no room for the $#*&#%*@. Well thats what it looks like at least- and you would not want to have to hide those $#*&#%*@ - would you?  ::)

The new credenza looks great!  Much better visual balance, IMO.  The other one looked like everything was a few seconds away from toppling over...  :rofl2:

Nice
But now you have refinish the speaker cabinets to a dark colour

I was thinking the exact same thing.  It looks WAY better now but the speaker casings don't match and stick out like a bear with a sore paw.  :)

Yeah right, refinish the speakers, they are worth more than the credenza and TV ;).

We wanted something that matched but unfrotunately couldn't find anything.  I was thinking of getting a new set of B&W's in dark brown but the $5000 price tag turned me off. :(

I was looking at these -- but they are $10,000 a pair.

FFS - get out of the 80s, people.  There is no rule that says your stereo equipment and furniture have to match.  I think it looks perfectly fine.

Heck, my furniture doesn't even match my furniture.  I have dark, modern wood for a dining table; I have the credenza that you've seen which is dark, but isn't modern; I have 50s hutch that I refinished to a cherry (reddish colour), and my coffee table and side table are dark metal, cream marble and glass.  I'll post pics later this afternoon, and you can critique if you'd like.  :)
