Previously, in our house we just sold, we would get anywhere from 100 to 200 kids at the door between 6 and 8 PM. This Halloween we are in a rental house on a large, treed lot with a long, dark driveway; also the streets in this area are quite steep, and the properties are further apart. Additionally, there are few children in this area. This all adds up to zero kids at the door this year.

Next year at this time, we will be in our new house, and it is in a family area so we expect tons of kids then. It was an OK break this year from the endless parade of spooks and princesses to our door.  ;)

My son asked for a batman costume for over a week, talked about it in school (yeah the article from National Post is rubbish). He changed his mind when we went to buy it. He opted for cars instead.

Elliot loved it, his first Halloween.

My son decided to go as batman again.  It's nice to get more than one Halloween season out of a costume.  My wife made the cape and stuff except for the mask.

Any way, back to eating left over chocolate candies... :)

We had no kids until around 7PM and then they hit like locusts on a wheat patch. About 150 in slightly more then a hour. The wife saved me the small O-Henrys bars as I like them myself. Years ago when my kids were small i always took them out and dressed up like a Bum myself with a Beerstein. It worked quite well actually as the kids always led me home at he end of the night as well. I always remembered to carry a large falshlight with me as well as they are definitely a asset on these nights. :)

My daughter went out as a princess (again ;-)) this year and had a blast. At one house she came running back shouting "They gave me a beer, they gave me a beer!"
She was close as it was a can of coke.. who hands out cans of coke to little kids anyway?
Sending your child out to get  sugar laden  candy from strangers is better ::)
People have been handing pop for 30 years

At least it was Coke.  My kids came home with Pepsi.   The dentist in the neighborhood was handing out toothbrushes again.  :)

Yeah I use to get cans of coke as a kid.  When I ran out I thought of doing that too, but we only have 6 or so, so its not like it would have kept us going much longer.

Perhaps he doesn't like having his picture taken.  He's cute in that monster costume.  Is he Mike from Monster Inc.?   Did you dress yourself as his partner Sulley to go trick or treating?
