I thought the CSX was going to be discontinued for 2009.

It seems like Acura Canada added the buck tooth to the CSX for the 2009.

Neither did the Civic.

The badge-engineered Civic seems extremely popular around my part of the world for some reason. Hard to understand why people pay thousands more for a badge and some trim bits.

At the Civic's price point, it's competitivley powered.  The Acura, less so.  The 190 Hp from the Accord EX, or even the 177 Hp from the Accord LX would have made a nice addition.

I thought it would be a mistake to drop the CSX because they do sell a decent amount of them, it's a good access point to the brand, competes in the new premium compact segment for younger/urban dwellers, and perceived as fuel efficent, so I'm happy to see it sticking around. Particularly appealing is the Type-S trim. I could see why someone may want a CSX over a Civic depending on the premium - in both car and price/rates.

I see a ton of the CSX's around...and still allot of the older EL's.  Very popular vehicles apparently...a mix of luxury and fuel economy I suppose.

Does the CSX get much better fuel economy than the new TSX?

A little bit...not as much as you'd think.  Still for some folks every bit of fuel economy counts but they are willing to pay for the luxury. Seems weird to me.  I did consider the CSX versus Civic when I was shopping...was about the absolute top level of my pricing area ...its nice but its not good enough to really make a huge difference between it and the Civic EX-L.  You might buy it if you want a smaller car as well...my goal was for a smaller sized car rather than a midsize.

It's a premium small car at a relatively affordable price.  There are not too many of those around that I can think of off the top of my head.  Perhaps the high price of fuel helped change Acura's mind not to discontinue it.

I had a '97 1.6EL and I LOVED it... Well worth the premium over a Civic... EL/CSX owners will understand...

I used to work at an Acura dealership... EL's were VERY popular...

Acura customers didn't stumble into the dealership looking for something with "4 doors and cruise and air"...  They knew what they wanted every single time, and knew more about the cars than most salesmen did...

The difference in FE is actually substantial:  10.8/7.2 for the 2009 TSX, 8.7/6.4 for the CSX.

Of course, the TSX is bigger, faster, safer and is a new model with all the latest gadgets.  However, it does look like there is quite a difference in FE.

The CSX is the WORLD Civic.  The North American Civic is a decontented WORLD Civic. ;)

The badge-engineered Civic seems extremely popular around my part of the world for some reason. Hard to understand why people pay thousands more for a badge and some trim bits.

Although the CSX may share many common components with the Civic it also has more.  Premium sound system, different seats, more options, more sound deadening materials, and the list goes on.... worth the price??? in my opinion ... yes.

Overall, I still like my EL. Its comfortable, quiet, super reliable and returns great fuel economy.

There aren't too many luxury 4 cylinder vehicles on the market. I suppose if Infiniti brought back a 4 cylinder G20, there would be a true competitor.

Out in my parts and in downtown Toronto, I see a lot of CSX's . A lot more since the summer and the rise in fuel prices.
