The news on the tele says Tourism in that Island is way up, because of the low exchange rate.

They will be ok.
Heck they still make ice cubes for most of the Caribbean countries.

The cost of living has been extremly high for many years in Iceland as i once had a Family Dr. that was from there. He got his DR. degree here in Canada and then went back but took a new car with him at the time as you almost could buy one there. It was considerably cheaper for him to take a New Chev 4dr home with him and drive it for the rest of his life he said then to ever replace it there. I helped him out at the time with helping him get good waxs and many other small items to take back with him. That was in 1985 he bought the car and returned about a year later. I would hate to live in a expensive place like that for sure.

Up to one third of Icelanders are considering moving out the country. Domestic foodstuffs have gone up in price by about 10% so far, imported foodstuffs by 30-40%.

There was an article in yesterday's Globe about how a vacation in Iceland had become such a deal because of the exchange rate.
One of the examples they used was how a 1/2 pint of beer had been $10 and now you could get a full pint for that price. I guess "cheap" means something different to a Toronto paper than to someone from the Maritimes
