I'm underwhelmed... I like the headlights, don't like the grille, don't particularly like the front fender flares, and hate the taillights. Overall it looks like someone morphed the new Mazda6 onto the current Mazda3 but it's not entirely successful. The sketches looked much better.

I like it. I don't absolutely love it (like the new Mazda6), but I really like it.

What do they need to watch? They outsell the Mazda 3 easily and hugely. That's all they care about....

Headlights are pulled back a bit too much but it will grow on me I guess.

2.5L will be fun.

So are you saying the Mazda3 will outsell the Corolla? That's crazy talk!!

Even when the Mazda3 was freshly new in the market it STILL didn't outsell the boring old Corolla...

Don't think RR will purchase any one of the two. Neither will I, for that matter. But I will bet 8 out 10 people will take the 'Rolla over the M3.

I love Mazda cars, the only one has my interest right now is the Mx-5 hardtop.

I'd be very surprised to see the 3 outsell the Corolla in the near future. The Toyota aint my cup of tea, but it's a fantastic car in its own right. If you want transportation without fuss, the Corolla is probably the best car on the market...

Mazda has their niche, and it works very well for them.

Go look at the numbers from Aug 2008 sales - 36,000 compared to 42,000. The M3 is close to the Corolla. In 2007 the M3 outsold the Corolla, 36,000 units compared to the Corollas 30,000. With the new design it will likely do it again in 2009-2010.

At least the Mazda3 has better fuel mileage now...which is never had. As long as I have my Supra, I'd buy the car that is the most economical for a 2nd car......Probably a Corolla (likely a Yaris or Fit). Although it's tough to say until I drive the new 3.

But if I HAD to only choose one of those two?? The fact the Corolla is made by Canadian hands might be the deciding factor.

I look forward to seeing it in the "real'; the released images are not terribly exciting, I had expected a bit more somehow.

Hopefully, the hatchback will be available in the new design and for sale in this country. IMO, the hatch is a better looker than the sedan in their versions today.

Yea. Canada only. I look at North America. Corolla Top 5. Mazda3 not even in Top 10.

If the trend of getting larger and larger continues, this will almost be a direct replacement for first gen mazda 6...
