(Six pages later)

Has that something big happened yet?   Maybe it is your subconscience trying to tell you it is time to get married and stop that living in sin stuff.   :D

Still not feeling something major has happened...I still have the "feeling". :(

Living in sin will continue until there is a tangible benefit for a man to be married...and thus far.. there is NONE!

Maybe some penicillin will make that feeling go away ;D :run:

I dunno... ya get a lot of cool wedding gifts.  Good excuse for a big party?  Or the fact that not everything in life is logical and unemotional... sometimes ya just gotta do stuff because it feels good.  If not, we should all be driving Camrys as simple, boring, emotion-less units of conveyance.

No..you are right.  Which is why I have a "co-habitation" agreement in effect.   ;)

And GiantDwarf....I get what you're saying....but "illogical" and "senseless" are two different things, IMO.  I mean, really....if you weren't married to your wife, would you love her or your kids any less?  Certainly not.

There really is no "upside" to getting married I'm afraid.  However, I will get married if you give me a brand spanking new GT-R as a wedding gift....:)
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I do believe you would be taxed slightly less being married, than you would be as two singles - assuming both work at decent paying jobs.

Can't see how being married saves you any money if each spouse reports income over 8K more or less.  If you know something specific let me know.

Dave Bowman: You see, something's going to happen. You must leave.
Heywood Floyd: What? What's going to happen?
Dave Bowman: Something wonderful.
Heywood Floyd: What?
Dave Bowman: I understand how you feel. You see, it's all very clear to me now. The whole thing. It's wonderful.

All these worlds are yours, except Europa. Attempt no landing there. Use them together. Use them in peace.

Ah, you guys probably right on the tax thing; it was just stuck in my head somewhere, but likely old rules. It used to be if you got married around Dec 30 or 31, you could claim spouse for entire year and get the spousal deduction, but I think that is now a closed trick also. I know it worked back in 1985 as a buddy of mine did it and made the claim.

So, you're right, no advantages to being married.....MMMmmmm.  ;)

I've gone down both roads... cohabitation and marriage.  I preferred marriage.  There is, somehow, a commitment that you make to the other person (in front of all your friends and family) that creates a certain bond.  Yes, we all know it can be broken, and usually is 50% of the time, but... I enjoyed being a wife and would be one again in a heartbeat.

Now that I'm in the slimey world of dating (ugh), I tend to regard men who are my age and have never been married with a slight degree of suspicion.  More often than not, they turn out to be duds.

I disagree.  A marriage is just a religious ceremony...

But to each their own...

That's OK.  I was just saying I don't need a slip that says "You are married" to love my S.O. more than anything else in the world...
