2009 Lancer Ralliart
« on: September 02, 2008, 10:21:16 pm »
I was poking through some old new articles and came across this one that says the Lancer Ralliart should be in showrooms summer 08:

http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/08detroit/080113-14.htm

And this article that says late summer:

http://lancerevolution.ca/archive/tag/lancer-ralliart/

Anyone know if its just around the corner and how it might compare to the WRX?

You might find the following comparison of the Raliart/WRX and MS3 on edmunds
useful they rated it as #2 because of cost and choice of tires

It has crap tires.  Otherwise, it's such a dang good sport compact that Subaru redid the WRX just one year after the second-gen came out.  The 2009 WRX has about 40 more horsepower and more aggressive suspension, and I don't think there's any real disagreement as to why.  As for how the Ralliart stacks up against the 2009 WRX remains to be seen.

I love the Quinton Jackson vs. New Kids analogy....I would pay top dollar to watch

Randy Couture can take on Lesnar AND the Jonas Brothers on the undercard ;D

Me thinks I would opt for the Ralliart mostly because of the twin-clutch transmission, which is being compared to the GT-Rs in this blog:

I love competition...  now that Canadians can buy the EVO and Ralliart, Subaru really needs to keep on its toes with their sport compacts.  :D

Now that Subaru will be chopping off $2000 off the price of the 09 WRX, I hope Mitsu will be pricing the Ralliart accordingly...I hope.

Should be here in November apparently, but the local dealer thinks it will be a little late.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

I'm a pure a$$.  I warn all girlfriends.  "I'm a guy. I do what I want. If you can deal with it, we will get along.  If not, you need to move along..."

Selfish? Yep. Shallow? Yep.

Not so easy to do after marriage....you really have to pick your battles.  A gf might agree to deal with it now, but after the wedding cake is cut things may change.  I was sort of like you at one time, but you learn to compromise after you tie the knot.

I'm actually quite lucky....I was being fecicious about divorce and such....my wife would probably be okay with a manual, but I wouldn't be okay with buying a car that we could not share.

My bride drives a manual now and loves it...

The motivation for her was to fall in love with a car that only came in a manual at it's introduction...the Mini.

Well....I never intend to be married....(no benefit to a man)

We could all argue there are negative benefits upon exchange of vows...although I'm with Just Bob...the little one(s) make it all worth it.

Does anyone know the pricing of this in Canadia?

And RR, do you know how tuneable it will be?

VERY tuneable.  They are already into the 10's...though that's highly modded.  Like the WRX, with the standard bolt-ons, power is upped 50-75 HP.  Vishnu has made outstanding progress, and there's another shop (forgot name) that's as good as Vishnus.  Expect to pay $1000...but for that you get about 75 HP.  I have my magazine with EVO tuning I'd be happy to pass you....

Personally, I'd use Vishnu since they've already figured out the complex ECU of the car.  They are stellar at ECU tuning.  They've made HUGE numbers with BMW 3.0L twin turbo too.
