New York Times Book Review: "Traffic," by Tom Vanderbilt
« on: August 09, 2008, 11:30:40 am »
"'Traffic' is not a dry examination of highway engineering; it’s a surprising, enlightening look at the psychology of human beings behind the steering wheels."

Fun read, and there's a link to the first chapter of Vanderbilt's book within the review.

... enlightening look at the psychology of human beings behind the steering wheels ...

Maybe funny in prints, not so in first hand experience.

Looks good, thanks Brig'!

Oddly enough, I happened to buy this book yesterday.  So far, "I find the book a good read", but wish that the author didn't feel the need to put "so many little" bits in quotation marks.  Quotes that are three and four words long hardly need "to be put in quote marks" all the time.

Just finished Drive: A Road Trip Through Our Complicated Affair with the Automobile by Tim Falconer. Very good travelogue/social-commentary on our love/hate relationship with the car. Very readable and not preachy one way or the other.

I just picked up Traffic we'll see how it compares.

Thirty bucks I think, Ms B. I hate shopping. If I want something specific, I just buy it at the first place that has it, in this case Chapters.
