Anyone tried to download map updates for discontinued GPS units? Or does all support for these stop when they are discontinued?

I would imagine yes. It would be the same OS. I can't seam them re-writing an OS every time. so I would say yes. But that would be my best guess. I would also give this ago. Sounds promising.

I've been playing around with www.openstreetmap.org from I understand (and I could be wrong), user's should be able to get GPS updates from it. I know for sure, you can map out waypoints, and routes, then upload them to their system.

I don't see why, it wouldn't work both ways.
