Was snoopin' the Subie Canada website last night, building 'my' 265 hatchback and noticed the min. fuel requirement was 87 octane. Is this just to appease everyone squawkin' about fuel costs lately and that's what it'll run on if the computer retards the timing, or have they actually done something to make it run normally on regular fuel?
More and more this is looking like the do-everything car I'm after -- yes, even at Cdn prices.
They are calling it a high pressure turbo (maybe 14-16 PSI) so I don't see how 87 would work or even be recommended. If you run 87 I would expect less HP, terrible fuel economy and black soot but I'm sure the computer will compensate.
87 vs. 91 that would be like going to a bar and ordering a Blue instead of a Stella .
When 91/94 gets to $2 litre will you still want one Jeff?
The only other fun car out there that's going to get significantly better fuel economy than that is a Cooper S... and the wiffy says I'm not allowed to get another chick-car.
Taking an average consumption (avg of city and hwy) for the new 265 is actually closer to the MX5 than I thought.
