Windsor was trying to court VW. But VW balked because of...you guessed it...the CAW.
Wonder how Honda and Toyota did it...what happened to Hyundai in Quebec? Union also?
Sidebar, I'm wondering if VW is better NOT getting (back) into the 'macrovan' market with JV deal on a new-nosed Dodge Caravan, given declining minivan sales?
Ummmmm. While your at it........ ![Thinker ](https://www.autos.ca/forum/Smileys/CarTalk/thinker.gif)
I also say scrap NA Ford and GM. Bring over the Euroland Ford and GM products which are far better and would save the companies IMHO. ![Grin ;D](https://www.autos.ca/forum/Smileys/CarTalk/grin.gif)
I also agree - a 'clean sheet' approach would be nice - but at what cost in alienated loyalty to the existing brands (and there is to some extent)?
Ford Trucks could be spun off, and the Crown Vic Police Interceptor has a dedicated following in law enforcement circles that a Magna could own without breaking a sweat (Frank Stronach, Line 1 please....Frank Stronach, Line 1) paid-off tooling and an assembly plant ready for purchase.
Anyway, back to my original question, would like to see ANY other brand, in addition to VW, in the general populace affordability sector from Europe.
I was reminicing about the Renault/AMC days, and (really) old Skoda days.
