So...given there seems to be little brand loyalty, does this mean that vehicles within the brand do not share the same DNA?

Its just nice to change things up, I love my TL but I think I'm going to go Audi or Lexus in the fall

So far I have had:

1969 Chevelle (still in the fleet)
1993 Volkswagon Jetta
1993 Pontiac Sunbird
2000 Chrysler Grand Caravan
2002 Chevy Astro Panel Van
2001 Honda Civic (still in the fleet)
2002 Toyota Sienna
2003 Chrysler Grand Caravan
2003 Ford Freestar
2004 Chrysler Grand Caravan
2007 Toyota Yaris Hatchback (still in the fleet)

For those wondering all the minivans were sales vehicles. There was a Ford Windstar in there as well but I can't remember what year it was. So far I have been most impressed with the Toyotas so we might swing that way when the Civic is time to leave the driveway. The Chrysler minivans drove really nicely and were generally very reliable except for a blow trannie in the 2000.

The Sienna had no issues whatsoever and was one of the best built and engineered vehicles I have ever had the pleasure of owning. If gas prices weren't so crazy I would be tempted to get another Sienna.. As it is I will go towards either a Camry with the 2.4L 4, a Camry Hybrid, or something like a Mazda 5 or Kia Rondo if I need more room.

Jeep 1
Pontiac (nee Toyota) 1

Nope, I buy what I like, and what works for me. Most were bought used. Only the Subaru was leased.

Not particularly. 2 Nissans, 2 Mazdas, 1 Chevy and 1 Ford (badged as Mazda). Next? Perhaps a Chevy Volt  :)

Yep.  I like Honda/Acura.  I can't really say why, I just enjoy owning and driving one.For one thing, they make the best manuals, and both my wife and I enjoy driving stick.  I've had great service, which is another factor.  I'm not against other companies, I just like what I like.

No brand loyalty here either.

Since I moved to Canada:

91 Pontiac Grand Prix - bought it without seeing it, but I got lucky as it served me well for almost 4 years without major problems.
89 Acura Legend - wife's car, bought by her father. Great car, better than many cars I drove (new) while being 11-16 year old.
05 Mazda3 - current car, bought new and by choice. I still like it.
07 Mitsubishi Outlander - current car, bought new and again by choice. Still like this one too.

Other cars before, that I would assume you don’t know much about - 3 x Dacia:
'76 -my father's car (20+ years old when I got it)
'95 - my first car after the University graduation (1 year old when I bought it)
'98 - new
This wasn't brand loyalty; this was the car that was popular and affordable at the time.

I had love affairs with 2001 Focus and 2001 Sebring and even 96-99 Neon. I had attempts to buy each of them at the time, but luckily I passed.

Next, I'm really excited about the new Fords (Euro) - Fiesta hatch, Focus, Kuga and if Fiesta is as good as it looks, it might be in my future as a replacement for the Mazda3. Same goes for the GM with the next generation Astra.

Lets see Since I've been driving there's been a Rambler Rebel,  AMC Pacer (Hey, I was broke and the price was right), AMC AMX,  2 S10's , 3 Chev 1/2 tons. a Suzuki gs750, a Honda Nighthawk, a Toyota Corolla, and the Lancer as well as a few yamaha and Suzuki ATV's.

If I''ve extended any loyalty it's been to the dealership's which has treated me right and which could offer me a vehicle to meet my needs. The string of Chevrolet trucks was only because of the GM dealership treating me well even through problems while the local Ford guys left a lot to be desired when I stopped in to check out the F150's ( I really dislike being lied to ). If GM's small Cars seemed to retain resale value I may well have bought a Cobalt when I got the Corolla just on the dealership experience.

On a similiar note My experience of Honda automotive dealerships, where at two seperate dealerships I've been treated Like a hooker at a church social, has prevented me from even test driving any of what is by everything I've heard, a very good line of cars.

I've owned Pontiac, Ford, Buick, Honda, Eagle, Plymouth, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan.  Now the  yard has 3 brand new Nissans, an Altima, Sentra and a Versa.  So I guess Nissan has earned our business, dependable and great service.  The Toyota and Honda were equally very good cars, it's the attitude of these dealers I can't stand, arrogance does not sit well with me.

No real brand loyalty here....although we did buy a lot of cars from a friend who owned the local Nissan dealership....If anything, any loyalty we have is to a dealer who's given great service....not to a manufacturer. I'm sure there would have been a Toyota or Honda in there somewhere if the local dealers weren't such arrogant a**holes.

I think KRS has nailed it though, dealer service has a massive impact on peoples' perception of a brand, I'd definitely own another BMW due to good service in the past.

If you have a local dealer that has great service and you are cross-shopping across a particular segment, the service will sway many people, and they will keep coming back after that first car too!

I tend to buy based on driving attributes and I don't think it's brand loyalty, but I've only owned Mazdas.
