The 2008 Malibu is already available...pricing would be on the Chevy website. From what I understand there are only very minor changes to the 2009 model.  I guess the biggie would be a new 6 speed automatic transmission for the I4...which might already be available in the late 2008 models.

Any particular reason for specifically chasing the 2009 over the 2008 (since they are the same design).  If you're looking for the mostly minor (except the new transmission) changes maybe its worth a trip to a dealership and see when those modifications might start appearing - assuming the dealer/sales staff are on the ball.

The 6-speed transmission with the 4cylwould be good enough reason to wait for an '09 IMO.

Yep...but unless I'm mistaken the transmission is supposed to show up "late in the 2008" run so its worth finding out if the latest batch of Malibus on the lot have the 4 or 6 speed transmission.  Although it may be that only one of the trim lines was getting that initially and then all of them would for 2009.  Can't remember...was a post at Autoblog.

If you check out the GM website at http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/vehicles/chevrolet/ you can follow the Build your own malibu area and find out the price of the Malibu LTZ with the 4 cyl. 6spd, combo.  The website shows that this combination is available now in the LTZ trim level
