4 door coupes are the new "it" thing?

If people are buying, manufacturers will build them.  And people certainly are buying.  Where I live, CLSs outnumber E-Classes perhaps 2 to 1.

What's wrong with calling it New Mondeo Sedan?

(1)  There already is one.  Well, one year old.
(2)  The name for this new genre, whether you like it or not, is "four-door coupes."  (Though in my mind, four-door coupes are vehicles like the RX-8 and Ion Red Line).

the CLS thing was unique back then, but now anymore.

I was watching Top Gear's older seasons I had missed.

They mentioned the Rover P5 was a luxury 4 door coupe. It was driven by the Queen.



This one belongs to the Queen.

That Rover in the photograph, owned by the Queen, is actually the regular sedan version. There was also a Coupe, that had 4-doors, and a slightly lowered rear roofline. IMHO it was a real looker, and now is worth collecting. Never seen one in Canada, they were quite rare in UK. Made 1970/1971.
So, the Mercedes was really a copy of the Rover 3 1/2 litre Coupe.

Whilst we're on the topic...the Chrysler 300 is a pretty good copy of the Rover as well - this itme the regular sedan version.

Well, CLS is the most stunning looking 4-door coupe so far. Mercedes didn't invent the concept.

This looks certainly different from the Queen's version. Side profile picture. Are you referring to this one?
